Re: Columbus Clippers 8 Omaha Storm Chasers 5
The Columbus Clippers began play in 1977 as the Triple-A affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates in the International League. They played their home games at Franklin County Stadium, which opened in 1932 and was renamed Cooper Stadium in 1985. The Clippers were named for speedy merchant sailing vessels known as clippers.
