I won money on LSU covering the spread, so yeah, the senior filled LSU team just seemed tough to beat in the Superdome for a very young OSU team.
OSU brings a lot back next year (we'll see how much) and LBs Curtis Terry and Ross Homan + DE Lawrence Wilson will all be back for '08. All of them were out for the season this year and played loads in 06, Wilson started. Homan and Terry were the best run stopping LBs OSU had in '06.

LSU and Oklahoma extremely close
i dunno shenk11 WVU will be fine without Steve he didnt have a great season like he was expected to have and Noel Devine stepped up and i think hes ready to be the running back so if he steve leaves WVU will be just as good but if he stays he will be sharing time with Noel.
One thing everyone should think about for USC is how many kids on the defense are leaving and they are losing another QB so now they have put someone in there and get started because their talented running backs arent going to win every game for them and with Pete carroll possibly leaving that leaves questions about who is the coach there next year if Pete leaves. USC has had some trouble at the start transtioning from QB to QB i dont really even know what kids are there that were behind John.

Let's see if I got this right:
* Pre season OSU picked to finish no higher than third in the Big Ten, which the talking heads give no respect to anyway, so how good could OSU have been projected to be nationally?
* Wins first ten games and is grudgingly elevated to #1 in the polls even though the talking heads are saying that the Bucks dont deserve to be there. You'd think OSU was Hawaii or Boise State the way the team was disrespected. Mark May is a you-know-what!
* Then when upset by Illinois, the pollsters are so glad to have an excuse to get rid of the Bucks that they drop them all the way to #7, but then we go to Ann Arbor and win the Big Ten, and all of the six teams ahead of us in the polls stumble around the last three weeks, the worst example being Pitt over WVU, and all of a sudden the "experts" are forced to put OSU back into the championship game.
* Further proof of the lack of respect is that the #1 Bucks were 4 point underdogs to #2 LSU. I wonder when was the last time a #1 was underdog to #2?
So now you have the preseason #3 ranked team in the Big Ten playing for the National Championship against a team many thought would be there from the beginning in their own back yard, and when LSU proves the oddsmakers and talking heads right by winning, all of a sudden OSU is over rated, the Bucks "choked," and Tressel is said to not be able to win "the big ones!"
Talk about your self fulfilling prophecies! If you had told most Buckeye fans that OSU would be playing for the National Championship even they would have thought you nuts! This is a team that is a year away (depending on who leaves) playing a senior laden team. How many DI football programs have played in three National Championship games in the last six years? A better question would be how many DI programs would LOVE to have OSU's resume since Tressel came in? I know Michigan would!
You want to talk about pollsters having an "EXCUSE" to drop osu from 1 to 7? When #5 WVU got beat by South Florida they dropped down to #13 the next week. When #2 USC got beat by Stanford, they dropped down to #10. Both of those teams dropped 8 spots. osu only dropped 6 spots.
You want some CHEESE WITH THAT WHINE
Underdogs? What do you expect when you play in the big 10 and beat up on MAC schools? Congrats on another big 10 title and mac title.
osu fans saying "we weren't even supposed to be here this year"........well osu may have ruined their chances for NEXT year.
osu better go UNDEFEATED next year, cause the pollsters (who by the way are osu haters ) won't let them get back in the NC with one loss.
GAHS4ever: If osu wasn't even supposed to be in the NC in the first place, give me ONE reason why they shouldn't have been the underdog

and if you knew what you were talking about you'd know that the Big 10 and MAC have a contract that states every Big 10 team will play at least 1 MAC school every year and vise versa. this year was a down year for OSU and the Big 10 in general. if you'd actually read a little bit you would already know this because you would have already seen this recap of OSU's recent non-conference opponents...

along with future non-conference home and home opponents USC, Miami FL, Oklahoma, Va Tech and Cal. so OSU has a weak schedule every once in a blue moon, shoot us
Sports writer Stewart Mandel from si.com backs OSU on a question asked by a fan:
Do you think Ohio State should adjust its schedule to include an SEC team or even any other moderately good conference team?
--Greg, Las Vegas
Mandel: Everyone lambasting Ohio State for its non-conference schedule seems to have an awfully short memory. Do you not remember the Buckeyes playing a home-and-home with Texas the two seasons prior to this one? Have you not gotten the memo that they begin a home-and-home next year with USC? And that they already have similar series scheduled down the road against Oklahoma and Miami?
Yes, this season's schedule stunk. Washington, who was a perfectly legitimate opponent at the time the game was scheduled earlier this decade, turned out to be a dud. But of all the schools to accuse of "not playing anybody," Ohio State should probably be at or near the bottom of the list.

Unfortunately the Natl champ is decided by just that , a senseless poll. LSU does'nt deserve it (lost to Arkansas and Ky) and neither would have the bucks ( ZERO wins in the regular season against top 15 competetion). Until we play it off MOST years it's a crap shot to pick who is best. it's a mythical NC. MDsomeoverkill wrote:Do people still find the polls credible? I mean the USA poll at the end had Missouri ranked 4th. That is 2 spots ahead of West Virginia who spanked Oklahoma(who embarrased Missouri). Makes no sense.
