If the NCAA did their random drug test and he tested positive he would have been unable to participate.
He was suspended for a game this season, could that have been the true reason, very possible.

I think some people just need to accept the fact that alot of players in general like to smoke some doobies. Not that I'm for it but, I just know how alot of people are.

yeah but athletes get punished for it and i was wondering if michigan knew he was smoking and didnt do anything really about it.
What if it was a freshman that did this would they have suspended him all season?

I would hope that they would suspend a freshman all season for that. But, who knows what the policy is on that.
Re: Mario Maningham ,that CB from Kansas admits to weed
It comes down to what the schools policy is on it. He didn't fail an NCAA drug test, he failed a Michigan drug test. NCAA only test's for performance enhancing drugs.
So yes they knew....More proof that this last regime wasn't it was cracked up to be!

That last line makes me chuckle

...especially considering that the star pupils of the regime that replaced Carr's are Packman Jones and Chris Henry.

Chris Henry was.
Also, this is of subject, but what serious NFL talent has RR's system produced...
...aside from the previously mentioned head cases.

His system rebuilt West Virginia...He WON at West Virginia...Thats all that matters...NFL talent means nothing in college if you win games
Re: Mario Maningham ,that CB from Kansas admits to weed
Let me give this a try. The resources he had at WVU will be nothing compared to UM. He will be able to bring in the top talent in the country year after year. The argument about well he didn't produce top talent at WVU and they didn't produce NFL players, what player would honestly come out of HS and go man I want to go to Morgantown and play for WVU????
Now Michigan may not produce the type's of QB's UM fans are used to, but tell me why than a 5 star in Will Campbell and a 4 star in JT Turner would want to play in a system that doesn't produce NFL talent?
I will tell you this and you can say man he was right here in a few years. UM has long suffered from well none of our Alumni ever come back and are present at UM. That has completly changed. Victor Hobsin, Mike Hart, Cato June, Braylon Edwards, Steve Slayton, and Leon Hall all have came back to train with Barwis at UM. RR also has an open door policy for UM Alums. This program is about to regain the attitude it once held true to.

I believe the coach before RR played for 2 national championships while at WVU. He also pumped players into the draft at a much higher rate than RR.
You better believe that "elite" recruits (those who did not consider WVU) will look at the draft results. All in all, these guys want to play in the league.
Re: Mario Maningham ,that CB from Kansas admits to weed
Henry, a former WVU receiver who was released last week by the Cincinnati Bengals after his fifth arrest, apparently had problems in Morgantown that went unpunished by the WVU coaching staff.
"Multiple sources within the athletic department and football program say Henry was much worse than his public image," Hertzel wrote, "and that public image was never exactly heroic."
Hertzel added that when Henry drew two personal-foul penalties against Rutgers in 2004 and then flipped off taunting fans as he left the field, he was suspended for a game only because then-WVU president David Hardesty demanded that Rodriguez offer a public form of discipline.
Hertzel also wrote that Henry punched a student while in a food line at West Virginia and that he and fellow receiver Travis Garvin, who is currently in jail after an arrest on an armed robbery charge, were involved in an altercation with an assistant coach before the 2003 Gator Bowl in which the players refused to leave the locker room for a running session. The coach, Steve Bird, was fired after the season.

Like Istated, obviously you don't understand resources. Michigan on name alone will get NFL calaiber players. Schilling, Tarrence Taylor, Grahm, MorganTrent, Donnavon Warren, Obi Ezeh, Greg Matthews, Carson Butler, all potential next level players.
This is not a John Beline type of system where you bring in all shooters. This is a system where you probably won't get a great NFL QB, but you still can get great OL, skilled players, and defenders. Proof of this a 4 star and a 5 star to start the class.
You keep banking on well if they run the Spread Option, well right now they are running the spread pass. Mallett was an idiot to leave. He would have had this offense tailored to his talents. Great Coaches adjust, and RR would have.
