Changes made to 2008 NCAA Football Clock Rules

Post by Layne99L »

I did some searching and found out that the NCAA has finally made some changes to the clock rules that I have been hoping would be made for a long time.

This season the NCAA will have the same play clock rules that the NFL has (40/25). The NCAA has also adopted the same clock rule that the NFL has concerning when players go out of bounds. This season when a player goes out of bounds, the clock will stop temporarily, and then will keep rolling. Just like in the NFL, the clock will stop within 2 minutes to go in each half when a player goes out of bounds.

What's everyone's thoughts on the changes? I am very glad to see them. I always felt that the constant stopping the clock really killed the pace of the games at times. Considering the games were lasting 3 1/2 to 4 hours, I felt the old clock rules were really dragging the game out.
