Hoops: Michigan beats #4 UCLA
Hoops: Michigan beats #4 UCLA
Big win for Michigan yesterday as they beat #4 UCLA. Undefeated Michigan will take on Duke tomorrow in the tip-off classic championship.
Re: Hoops: Michigan beats #4 UCLA
In my opinion one of the best coaches in the nation. He is certainly one of the top five underrated coaches in the country. he can flat out coach defense and his teams are always very disciplined. They take great shots. Belien will take Michigan back to national prominence. This is great for the Big Ten. I cant wait to see the Michigan-Michigan State basketball game over the next few years. two great coaches really going at it.

I have to agree, Belien is a top notch coach. Did a great job at WVU. Did good at Richmond or anywhere else he has been. He goes after players that fit his brand of basketball.
With that said, my only knock against him is that he never stays longer than 5-6 years at a school, then he moves on to another. Of course, he has always moved up when he does move.
I think he will bring Michigan basketball back to the upper level of the Big Ten and soon have them national ranked. Still, I look for him to move again in a few years. I think he and his wife want back on the east coast. I look for him to go to a very good basketball school in the near future when a retirement opens up in either the Big East or ACC.
The job at North Carolina State he almost took a couple of years back wasn't quite what he was looking for.
Michigan basketball will be a force in the Big Ten this year, especially during the Big Ten tourney. The more his players play under him, the better they will be. A good run in the Big Ten tourney will secure them at least a high NIT bid and they could very well make the NCAA's with some luck. Beating UCLA was a huge plus and a good game against Duke will help.

Michigan didn't look bad against Duke in their 71 - 56 loss tonight. Duke did have a lot of points in the paint and that is something Belien needs to workon.
If they could have gotten hot from behind the arc, it would have been alot closer. This loss did not hurt Michigan in anybody's eyes.
