I will give you Florida---excellent team---after that Georgia was a fraud, so was LSU, Bama was a true top 10, teams like Ole Miss and Vandy were much better then expected, but I am not buying this conference this year.

I am still having a really hard time wrapping my mind around why USC's offense isn't as good as Florida or anyone for that matter. Moody, who couldn't even get into the lineup at RB for USC, plays at Florida. Those WR's at USC are every bit as good if not better then any of the Florida WR's (exclude Harvin). Against a good OSU defense, USC had no problem openingup holes and protecting Sanchez (who is pretty darn good IMO).

Oklahoma was a fraud. The entire Big 12 was a fraud. Don't get me wrong Florida is great and deserved to be in the NC Game, but the Big 12 milked the national media tagging them to be the best conference, despite the fact they only beat up on one another. OSU out played Texas, Tech was exposed, Oklahoma (duh), and Oklahoma State was exposed as well.

Who said "We are the SEC?"...Not me. The conference was down and young this year. It was still a better conference than the Pac 10.

Your Moody argument is completely irrelevant and entirely false.

As a freshman at USC, he was third in carries (70 att) and 2nd in yards rushing with 2 TD.

At Florida, he was fifth on the team in carries (58 att) and most of them were in garbage time. He only scored 1 TD.

Sanchez is good, but they dont play much defense in the Pac 10 either. Florida would be the best defense they have faced all year.

Im not saying that USC could NOT beat Florida, because they definitely can. Simply saying that Florida could definitely beat USC as well. I think that would be a great game to watch. IMO, they are the two best teams in the country and have been since Day 1. Is USC better? Maybe. Noone knows for sure and in fact, we will never know. The one thing we do know is that the Florida Gators are national champions.

Meh... the system was agreed upon before the season and the system brought all of us... Florida.

The national champion is Florida.

That being said, I wish the game had been USC and Florida. USC destroys teams in the non-conference. They destroy teams in the spotlight. Meyer v. Carroll.

I also agree about the Big 12. Texas was the only win among the Big 12 South and it came in dramatic fashion. Texas was also another team that beat OU by 10.

As an OSU fan, I was starting to feel a bit of "low self-esteem" in the college football world. However, the UF/OU game showed me that OSU is right there with them. OSU already dealt with Texas who beat OU by 10 and OU was right there and had many "what ifs" in the 1st half.

As for PSU and USC, I will add that I did predict this happening to PSU. Pryor was not ready to make good reads in the passing game. Boeckman was too immobile behind OSU's offensive line. Therefore, OSU could not expose the PSU secondary. I was told by many that OSU had WRs wide open down-field all night. I said after that game that if PSU played a team with an experienced and solid QB who also had reasonable time in the pocket, that PSU's D would get exposed. It happened. Boeckman with time would have exposed them.

Take that into account with the fact that PSU had 3 points well into the 4th quarter against OSU, and you have a situation where OSU simply having decent pass pro would have lead to a manhandled PSU.

Where does it all lead? Confusion.

This is the exact reason that when people ask I tell them this, "It isn't that I dont like Ohio St., I just cant stand their fans"

If you hate OSU fans because they are questioning UF's standing as national champion, then you hate all Ohio Bobcat and other mid major fans as well. They want Utah.

Plus, there are lots of OSU fans. That means lots of people. Lots of people = lots of idiots.

Living in New England, there are plenty of idiot Red Sox, Celtics, and Patriots fans. I have refused to hate those teams because of the idiots. Every team has them.

Who is your team? Is the fan base free of idiots? I would love to see this group, if so..

I find it interesting that folks want to say USC had their chance and choked when they lost on the road to Oregon State and forget the fact that 2 days later Florida choked against Ole Miss @ home.

Florida has 2 regular season wins over top 25 teams - #6 Alabama and #13 Georgia. 1 loss against #14 Ole Miss @ home.

USC has 2 regular season wins over top 25 teams - #9 Ohio State and #10 Oregon. 1 loss against #18 Oregon State on the road. (the game after they beat Ohio State).

Utah has 3 regular season wins over top 25 teams - #7 TCU, #18 Orgeon State and #25 BYU. 0 losses.

Each won their bowl games.

Even though I think USC would beat Utah in a head to head game, I would cast my vote for Utah. More regular season wins against top 25 teams and zero losses. I don't see what more they could have done.

I am a fan of the West Virginia Mountaineers and I would be the first to tell you that they looked terrible in many instances this season. They had probably one of the most talented, quickest teams in the nation.... but didn't show for it when it counted. I have met idiots, but I see a lot more OSU fans than WVU (living in ohio), and I have no idea why 90% of them say the things they do. If you are not one of those fans who believe they are so much better than they really are... sorry for offending you.

Aren't WVU fans the one's who have thrown snowballs and pieces of ice at opposing teams? Didn't they rock an ambulance trying to take an opponent's player out of the stadium? I know for sure that they rocked OSU's bus in 1998 and pelted it with garbage.

I don't dislike WVU but come on. When you live in a big time team's home state, you will get a big dose of their propaganda. Take it from someone who has lived in other states.. it happens everywhere.

BTW, I am not offended. I am discussing on a discussion forum.

Florida has 2 regular season wins over top 25 teams - #6 Alabama and #13 Georgia. 1 loss against #14 Ole Miss @ home.
.........................

This is where teams were ranked when they played the Gators. To me it is 4 reg. season wins vs. top 25 teams, and back to back wins vs. the #1 teams.

Opponent Result / Time

10/11 vs. 4 LSU W 51 - 21
11/1 at 8 Georgia W 49 - 10
11/15 vs. 24 South Carolina W 56 - 6
11/29 at 23 Florida State W 45 - 15
12/6 vs. 1 Alabama W 31 - 20
1/8 at 1 Oklahoma W 24 - 14

2nd toughest schedule in the NCAA.
Florida played many teams that had top 20 ranked defenses, until they played Florida! Coach Meyer rattled off a bunch of solid stats at the party a couple days ago, I'll watch the tape tomorrow and try to post a few.

Listing a teams ranking from the season-ending poll is a much better read on a team's strength of schedule than a ranking from the beginning or middle of the season.

Plus, LSU and South Carolina didn't finish in the top 25.

Sorry, doesn't sway me.

Only proves that the SEC loads up their nonconference schedule against weaker teams so they can win a few games along the way. Look at all the SEC's team schedules. Polluted with Weber-State, the Citadel etc.

Florida wants no part of undefeated Utah or 1 loss USC. If they did, they would kick the Citadel off their schedule and put them on.

At least Tennesse got a game against Cal. Do not see many SEC schools playing west of the Mississippi or north of the Mason-Dixon line in the regular season against major or mid-major conferences.

huh? Are you saying we load up vs. weaker teams ?? Did you understand 2nd toughest schedule in the NCAA ? The Gators had 11 opponents this year who played in a bowl game.
Top 5 scoring offense. Top 5 scoring defense. Top 5 kicking special teams. Most interceptions in the nation. 9 blocked kicks. #1 balanced offense 210 ypg rushing AND passing. Gave 14 pts to the best scoring offense in the history of college football. Back to Back wins vs. the #1 team. SEC Champs. National Champs. A 100% graduation rate for this year's Senior class.
Wittingham called Meyer for tips how to beat Bama. Utah fans still love Meyer, chanted "Urban Meyer" at the Bammers during pre game at the Sugar.
USC is a power, every bit as good as Florida. If they play 4 times I'd bet each wins twice. This year and next year would be Florida's 2 wins. USC has an easier season schedule, because the SEC > the rest of the nation.

The SEC refuses to play games out of it's comfort zone i.e. nonconference regular season games west of the Mississippi and north of the Mason-Dixon line. Its a fact.

While the SEC is a good college conference, it needs to grow some stones and venture outside of it's comfort zone like other schools have, i.e. USC, Texas, Ohio State etc have in recent years. Even poor ol' Norte Dame does it. That was the whole idea of the NCAA expanding the regular season schedules, let the big boys on the block slug it out during the regular season. Very few schools and hardly no SEC schools have done that.

If there was an SEC school that went undefeated in 2004 and 2008 like Utah did and not be named number 1, there would be a federal investigation into the snub.

They still like Urban Meyer at Bowling Green, what's your point? The guy is a good coach but he is not yet a legend. He couldn't win a national title anywhere else, even Utah. ;-)

So the toughest conference in the nation is a comfort zone. HAHA. We played Miami and FSU this year out of conf. They've been ranked. I cant help if OSU is the only real football school in that state so you have to play others.

the BCS system is garbage, but the fact of the matter is that Florida won the title using the current system. so therefore Florida is the national champion.

Let me remind you SEC fans of 2004 when Auburn was undefeated...

The whining that went on from not only coach Tuberville, but the SEC because Auburn was regulated to face 10-2 Virginia Tech in the Sugar Bowl while undefeated USC and undefeated Oklahoma played for the national title in the Rose Bowl, which USC won 55-19.

"Oh, that would have never happened if Auburn was allowed to play. The SEC would have given the public a much better game, maybe even beat USC." You haven't heard that much complaining out of the south since Sherman's march to the sea.

Not only that, but they wanted a split title much like 2003 when 1 loss LSU and 1 loss USC shared the title. LSU won the BCS but USC took the AP meaning there was no clear-cut #1 team. Especially since in 2004 USC and Auburn were both undefeated. USC won everything and Auburn didn't even get a smell of any title from any group like USC did the previous year. The SEC was up in arms that one of their schools, undefeated at that, could not possibly be crowned at least a share of the title.

I don't think I'll be inserting my foot on this one.
