This past Sunday, I worked crowd control for the autograph session at
Buckeye Corner Easton and was able to meet and speak with
Beanie Wells, Ben Person, Brandon Smith, and Rory Nicol.
These 4 Buckeyes were all absolutely 100% first class, respectful,
kind, friendly, and wonderful individuals. They took the time to
speak with each and every fan in line, from the time they started
to the end of the day 500 people and 2 1/2 hours later. They all showed
up 1/2 hour early, and took time to speak with the employees, signed
our stuff as well, and treated us as old friends. It was an awsome day.
A couple of notes on each player, Ben Person is not as big as I would have
thought. If you can have a lean 6'3" 323lbs. then he was it. I'm 6'3" and 405
pounds, believe me when I say that extra 70 pounds is alot! If you saw the two
of us together you would have thought me to be the staring lineman. He was
great though, and while he didn't have the expected size, you could tell he what
we would call "country strong".
If you walked into a club in Columbus, and didn't know what Brandon Smith looked like,
you wouldn't be able to find Brandon Smith. He's listed at 6'2" 251 lbs, he's more like 6'0"
and 210 at best. If I told you he played Tight End for the Buckeyes, you'd call me a liar
and a cheat. He was very friendly and loved to joke around with the fans though, definatly
a great locker room guy.
Rory Nicol is aparently the incredible shrinking man. He is listed at 6'5" 252 lbs. If that is
true, then I'm 8 feet tall and bullet proof. He's 2 inches shorter than me, and looks more
like a kicker or saftey than he does a tight end. My day with the Buckeyes let's me know
why we didn't use tight end packages very much, we don't have any! His size is the only complaint
I could have about him though, he is a relatively quiet person, but when he talks it is worth while.
Now on to Chris "Beanie" Wells, this man is simply that A MAN! He is listed at 6"1 237 lbs. this my
friends is short, he is every bit of 6'3" and a very stout and thick 237 lbs. Everyone that knows me
considers me to have large hands, Chris shook my hand and his wrapped around mine! His forearms
were bigger than most men's thighs. There is no doubt anymore as to why his forearm is a lethal weapon
in 47 states. Chris was awesome with the fans as well, took every picture, signed every autograph, stayed
over an extra 45 minutes past his paid time, and talked and smiled the whole day.
At the end of the day, over 400 people made their way through the line, and unfortunately we had to turn away
another 250+ due to time restrictions. Everyone that got their chance to meet the Buckeyes were all
very excited and everyone commented on their class.
For everyone that was turned away, we have booked another signing with Chris Wells. He and a couple of
others will be back at the Buckeye Corner Easton Mall Store on Sunday, Janurary 25th at 1:00.
If you want to make the trip up to Columbus for the signing, come early and get to the store by 11:30.
There will be a limit of 1 item per person signed. The autographs are free, but you must purchase merchandise
to have signed, that day at the store.

Re: My afternoon with Beanie Wells
What an opportunity to meet Chris Wells and other buckeyes. I'm sure it was an experience of a lifetime...it sounds like you had a great time, seofan via dublin!
Re: My afternoon with Beanie Wells
Both Beanie and Little Animal were at the Colony Square Mall this past week in Zanesville.
