You accept his resignation effective this saturday when the clock hits 0:00. That way you get rid of him, he goes out head held high, and the students wont riot.

Well not only are you a bad or at least misinformed human being with a distortion of the law, right and wrong, and what we as human being should be obligated to do, but you know nothing about administration. Yes the regents and the acting powers that be should bend to the coach. That really shows leadership, letting your coach pick the way he goes out.
As an actual assistant AD I can tell you first hand that in accordance with our mission and philosophy statements there is reason for termination or dismissal. The welfare of the student-athlete is our first priority, and if the trustees or acting AD feel he violated or failed to uphold the mission or philosophy of the athletic department (which he did), then they can terminate his contract however they feel necessary.
As an AD you have to consider the the division within the athletic department, alumni, and boosters that his continued employment would cause. His former players were already calling him out in the media, I don't know how else you can spin that he had the support of anyone aside from a select amount of students who are basing their emotion on their attachment to the football coach. You don't continue employment because your students feel it is fair. Business is not fair, and that is exactly how an athletic department works.
Joepa direct quote "If I had it to do over I would have done it differently". This should tell you all you need to know and should shut you up that he did all he could do. He didn't and admitted to it.
I also enjoyed how you ignored my previous post. Circumstantial evidence, you got nothing?
Last point, who cares if he goes out with his head held high? There is something much bigger then JoePa and his ego going on here. Yes lets bend to JoePas ego so that we can make him feel good about himself. That shows real control and leadership.

Hind sight is 20/20 like I said previously peake. Im sure all of us have things in our past we would have done differently.
The lawyer for the victims even said himself his clients, the victims, said it was wrong what they did to Paterno. That was on ESPN today. So if the people who are most affected by this tragedy is saying that the Board did wrong in firing him like they did which I have been arguing all along.

Joe Paterno Fired, Others Not: Attorney General's Office Has 'Concern'
By COLLEEN CURRY
2 hours, 44 minutes ago
Pennsylvania's attorney general has voiced "concern" over Penn State University's firing of legendary football coach Joe Paterno and the treatment of other witnesses and officials involved in a child sexual abuse case.
Nils Hagen-Frederiksen, a spokesman for the Pennsylvania attorney general's office, noted that the two officials charged with perjury and failure to report the abuse are being defended by the university, while Paterno was fired.
"We have a cooperating witness [Paterno], an individual who testified, provided truthful testimony," Hagen-Frederiksen told ABCNews.com, "but two others who were found by a grand jury to commit perjury whose legal expenses are being paid for university. One is on administrative leave. Very interesting development."
"It's certainly curious and [has] not been explained yet," he said. "Speaking as a prosecuting agency, we have a cooperating witness who has not been charged, while two individuals accused of committing crimes continue to be affiliated."
Look at that the attorney general even finds his firing odd like I do. Thats interesting. So now you got the victims, the attorney general of Penn, and tigercannon on the same wavelength. That pretty much is game set match. Thank you and goodnight!

THe attorney general now works for the athletic department?
Do you really want me to pull up every quote by every former player who has come out. Heck flip on college gameday live or espnu to see their reaction.
Again, as an acting AD my decisions for what is best for our athletic department does not hang on the opinion of an attorney general. This is a business, and if those in charge feel it is in the best interest of that business to remove an employee, you remove the employee.
The victims, with all due respect, don't run an athletic department.

Another two examples: 1. Jim Tressel 2. Rich Rod
There are people in Ohio that still think he shouldn't have been fired, but the AD made the best decision for the long term success of the program.
There were people who thought Rich Rod should have been given another year and not removed, he was removed regardless.

Paterno forfeited the right to go out with his head held high when he started enabling Sandusky back in '98!!!tigercannon71 wrote:You accept his resignation effective this saturday when the clock hits 0:00. That way you get rid of him, he goes out head held high, and the students wont riot.

Re: It's official...PSU forces Joe Paterno to RETIRE NOW!
There is a story out from a PSU LB recruit about Sandusky visiting him after his HS spring game and talking to him about his game and how it will relate to PSU.
I have to wonder how many times this has happened in the past 5 years.
If OSU has had to self report secondary violations because Chris Carter, a Buckeye alum, had a few words with a recruit. Then how is a retired coach having contact with an active recruit not a secondary violation at minimum?
Also, if it is, how many times did Sandusky do this?
If it was repeated many times over the past 5 years, and PSU said nothing or did nothing to stop it, then how is that not Failure to Monitor?
I'm thinking that as the trial goes on, and the floodgates are opened, that PSU's clean NCAA image will be erased too.

I saw on another site and they were talking and one of the posters took the lack of institutional control clause and they were arguing that Penn State could fall under that. I dont know, but Im sure heads arent done rolling in this case. If they do decide to step in Im thinking the NCAA will wait til after the courts decide to step in.

cudos NYBUX. If this were me, the conversation to JoPa would have gone like this. "Coach, Sandusky's dead. I left him in the shower. There is no more blood left in his body. I doubt you will be able to identify him but it is him. Call CPS and the morgue. It's justifiable homicide, NO ONE will convict me.
Villain #1 is Sandusky, #2 is McQueary and #3 Paterno. Sandusky was told he was no longer wanted on the staff after the '98 incident , thus his retirement the next season. McQueary was promoted immediately for being a "company man and keeping his mouth shut" to protect the image of JoPa and the program.
