Ohio Announces Non-Conference Football Schedule through 2015
Bobcats to play seven home games in 2013
Ohio Football
March 2, 2009
ATHENS, Ohio-Ohio Director of Athletics Jim Schaus announced the Bobcats’ non-conference football schedule through the 2015 schedule Monday morning.
“I am very excited about our future football schedule,†said Schaus. “Strategic scheduling is critical to success. It is important to plan ahead to ensure obtaining the type of schedule you need. The schedule has many positive features, including the fact that we are guaranteed at least six home games for the next seven consecutive years, which is great for our fans and team. Next, the schedules are more balanced, which assists us in building a successful program. It also has a slant toward playing more teams in our region.â€
Ohio’s BCS conference opponents over the next seven years will be Connecticut, Tennessee, Ohio State, Rutgers, Penn State, Louisville, Kentucky and Minnesota. The Bobcats will also restart the series with Marshall in 2010, a school with which Ohio owns a 29-17-6 all-time record. In 2013, Ohio will play an unprecedented seven home games.
"Having our schedule set through the year 2015 is good for all concerned - our players and coaches, as well as our fans," said Ohio head coach Frank Solich. "It assures us balance in the number of home versus road contests and is a good mixture of games against very competitive programs. Renewing the match-up with Marshall for a six-year stretch will be of interest to many of our fans. Due to the proximity of the two schools, it is a natural rivalry."
The slate constitutes the first-ever meeting(s) between the Bobcats and: Connecticut, North Texas, Cal Poly, Tennessee, Wofford, New Mexico State, Norfolk State, Eastern Illinois and Southeast Louisiana. The Bobcats are 1-1 all-time against Rutgers and 2-2 against Kentucky and Louisville.
