First game at the Big House
Peake (or anyone who knows),
I'm heading up for my first OSU-UM game at the Big House. Any advice on hotels for friday night and parking for the game? Thanks.

Re: First game at the Big House
I would stay outside of Ann Arbor---well that is going to be your only option because all of the hotels in are around Ann Arbor will be taken. We stay in Milan and it like 20 miuntes away. Pretty easy commute.
Park on the golf course. Best tailgaiting location I have ever been to. It will not be fun sitting in traffic but it is well worth it. You are a skip and a jump away from the Big House.
Have a great time. This is the first THE GAME I have missed since 2002.

Re: First game at the Big House
Thanks Peake. I booked a nice hotel in Romulus. I heard that was a decent area.
Re: First game at the Big House
Been twice. 2005/2007.
It's a place you should go if you haven't, a lot of tradition. The tailgating is nice with the golf course and Pioneer HS.
That being said, bring your elbows. UM decided they were going to have the largest stadium in the country by giving each fan roughly 7-8" of space.... Plus, since they have no decks you have to stand the entire game, partially sideways..... It takes FOREVER to get out of the stadium and Ann Arbor afterwards, but if the your team wins, it softens the blow a bit. Never have been able to find anywhere close to stadium to grab food or anything but like I said I've only been twice.....

I'm going to watch the Red Wings play tonight and then to the MGM after
Re: First game at the Big House
If you are going to stay in the D you should have stayed at the Ren Cen---way better then the MGM and less expensive.

If you're from Ohio, and traveling up as a Buckeye fan,
you should honor the wishes of Woody, and not enter the state till game day.
Stay in Toledo, and get the hell out as soon as the game is over.
Also, try not to spend much money up there either!

Hey, we lost the border war, and that's why we got stuck with Toledo.
But no matter how ugly Toledo is, it still is much better than what Michigan has to offer.
Re: First game at the Big House
Whatever you say.
I will take staying at the Rec Cen and going to watch a Red Wings or Tigers game and then grabbing a bite to eat in Greek town most anything Ohio has to offer, but I am sure Toldeo can top that---eye roll.
Or the fact that a lot of people vacation in Michigan on the lakes and beaches, but again nothing Ohio can not top--eye roll

Re: First game at the Big House
You stay in and around Detroit, I'll stay ALIVE and not poor and hooked on crack!
Re: First game at the Big House
HAHAHA. I am not staying on 8-mile my friend. There are a lot of excellent suburbs in Detriot, some of the best in the country. I got married in Gross Point Farms---million dollar homes everywhere.
If you think staying in Toledo is going to keep you anymore alive then so be it. Toledo is very sketchy.
I'll take a vacation on the west side of the state any day over anything Ohio has to offer.

I stayed in Farmington Hills... I was there for a hockey tourney..... I stayed @ the Ren Center in 2005 for the CCHA Super Six and they messed up our booking and put us in a suite.... absolutely loved it!
Detroit does have some AMAZING suburbs... I enjoy visiting.... lots to do...
Had a heck of a time with the parking @ Joe Louis though...
