JIM TRESSEL HAS RESIGNED!!!!
Re: JIM TRESSEL HAS RESIGNED!!!!
That's my point I don't think the rings and gold pants were ever really University property because they were made specifically for the individual player and earned via an incentive. A jersey was not in that category nor is a helmet. They may be fitted for an individual but a "Georgia Bulldog" jersey is Georgia's property or an Alabama helmet is Alabama's, the ring and gold pants were TPs and only his.........
Not a justification because I have already stated how I feel about the players and have been stedfast about how I feel about TP and his QB ability since we began recruiting the bum. At least back when we started recruiting him he had potential, time has passed for that potential to become reality.
Oh well Tressell lied and lost his job, that is the topic here. Only presidents can lie and keep their jobs, nearly all other occupations have work rules regarding dishonesty.

Tiger, I agree, Jim Tressel is the only man who knows the true story. I personally think he fell on the sword. JT referred in the press conference that the kids are " safe". I strongly believe the drug investigation makes this whole situation more serious than any of us or the almighty media know.tigercannon71 wrote:It boils to down to a few things. First of all the media are hounds and look for anything to bring good people down. So this guy emails Tressel says hey the FBI are investigating this guy for drugs and stuff I think your guys are involved. Here a problem if he tells the university the Media gets wind of it and the FBI case is blown. So now Tressel would be responsible for tipping off a drug dealer that he is about to be busted. So instead he takes lesser of two evils and buries it.
Second lets look at the violations: Do they create and unfair advantage on the field? No. Did the players go to Ohio State because they would get tats? No. Did anybody get money to go to Ohio State? No. Did anybody get a house or their parents get a job to go there? No. Hmm so they sold personal things in order to get money to buy tatoos. Yet ESPN, SI, and all you other morons are making Ohio State and Jim Tressel out to be Capone and his mobsters, but hey they took Capone down for tax evasion. So I guess when you cant find any true dirt you take what you can get blow it out of proprotion and ruin a great mans rep as well as a universities.
This is a witchunt plain and simple. The NCAA, media, and ESPN has a bias against Jim Tressel and Ohio State for some reason and its bull. Thats all I got to say on the matter.
Re: JIM TRESSEL HAS RESIGNED!!!!
JChipwood- Not to agree/disagree with your post but the gold pants and rings were property of the university as they were purchased with university funds and could only be considered property of the individual upon graduation or if the person left the program. The rules may be right/wrong but they are rules that they all knew about and decided that they weren't important enough to follow. Wow,were they wrong.
Re: JIM TRESSEL HAS RESIGNED!!!!
I bet there are a lot of big time College programs whose head Coaches are having nightmares right now. This sort of behavior goes on everywhere. It is Ohio States turn. It was SMU and USC before Ohio State. I wonder who they will go after next? If you are a winning program, you are always watched like a hawk on everything you or your players do.
College Football has become a huge money maker for all programs. It does seem like that the NCCA needs to have a huge profile case almost every year to keep the public aware of the power they yield and the excuse to have the bigs money they earn for themselves. I would be curious to see what the people in charge of the NCCA make a year in salaries. How are the powers that run the NCCA regulated? Not being a no it all, but really would like to know. I know there should be a checks and balance system installed.
Also in my opinion, this is a get Ohio State themed issue with the NCCA. Yes there were rules broken and there should be punishments issued. But what I find strange is that when any School in the SEC are involved like Auburn was last year in a scandal like they were, the NCCA did nothing about it. If the NCCA is going to be Judge and Jury an set the rules and punishments, they need to judge every School the same no matter what Conference they play in. I think it is time the NCCA and their reps are brought before an congressional hearing to see just how they are spending all the money to go after schools and why. Ohio State broke the rules and lost Tressel. Will Gene Smith and Gee lose their jobs? Time will tell. But one thing I would like to see is the players involved never play another down for Ohio State. They were not smart enough to follow rules themselves and they shouldn't have the right to stain the image of the name of Ohio State any longer. I have heard all I want to hear about Pryor to last me a lifetime as it is.

The Dispatch just reported more news on Tressel. Said he called TP's people like sixty two times about the situation before getting busted.
Re: JIM TRESSEL HAS RESIGNED!!!!
This story will only get worse before September. Once Ohio State has to forfeit last year's wins, the bowl victory, lose scholarships over the next 3 years, etc., it'll be on the level of Indiana or Minnesota football IMHO.

According to that report, I did some number crunching.Charge wrote:The Dispatch just reported more news on Tressel. Said he called TP's people like sixty two times about the situation before getting busted.
Tress averaged 60 calls or texts every day, I don't think at all that one days worth of calls or texts is out of line when your talking to a guys most trusted friend.

Even if OSU gets the death penalty, they will never drop below the mid point of the conference.
The budget is to big, and they are the biggest school in a talent rich state.
It will hurt, but they'll never get that bad!!!

Re: JIM TRESSEL HAS RESIGNED!!!!
Don't know whther anyone else caught it but I was listening to Cowherd toady and Colt McCoy's wife called in and talked about boosters and wannabees plying athletes with favors. She said while her husband didn't succumb to any of these "extra benefits", many other players in Texas we're naive and did take dinners, hunting and fishing trips, etc. Will the NCAA follow up on this? Lucy, you got some splaining to do!
