Michigan Football Recruiting 2013
Michigan going into yesterday was at 3 commits.
1. Shane Morris, 5-star QB who is expected to be the top QB in the country.
2. Dynomite Thomas, 4-star RB/S from Ohio.
3. Khalid Hill, expected 3-star TE/H-Back hybrid from Detroit.
Yesterday saw Michigan get 6 commits!!!!
1. Chris Fox, 4-star OL, from Colorado
2. Taco Carlton, projected 4-star from Ohio, DE
3. Wyatt Shallman, 4-star RB/H-Back, from Michigan
4. Jordan Lewis, projected 3-star, DB, from Detroit
5. Kyle Bosh, projected 4-star, OL, from Illinois
6. David Dawson, projected 3-star DL, from Detroit
So that is:
QB-1
H-Back-2
OL-2
DL-2
DB-1
S-1
Things are going very well with 9 commits already wrapped up and only 11 spots remaining. Michigan at the moment leads for Devin Smith (RB from Ohio), Ty Issacs (top RB in the midwest), Logan Tully-Tillman (OT), and Jaron Dukes(WR from Ohio).

Re: Michigan Football Recruiting 2013
Yes thank you for correcting me, Butt will play TE.
Another commit today, Logan Tully-Tillman, OT. He is considered the premier OT in the midwest.

DE-1 (looking for 1 more).
LB-0 (looking for 1 MLB).
DB-1 (looking for 1-2 more)

Re: Michigan Football Recruiting 2013
So that was an exciting weekend. Beat the bucks in roundball and turn around and get 8 commits in a weekend.
Anyways, here is the information I got this morning going forward.
1. QB- They think that they will probably have to invite someone to walk on because no one will want to sit behind Shane. They need to build depth here because in 2013 they will only have 3 QB's on schlarship.
2. RB- They have one in the fold, well a big back, so now they want a super. They have Ty Issacs at #1 on their big board with Devin Smith right behind. They feel they are in a great position with both.
3. WR-They want two but they might go after 3 because of their lack of confidence in getting a QB. They feel at this moment Jerron Dukes is in the bag. He tried committing during his visit two weeks ago and they told him to think about it first. Laquon Treadwell is another they feel at this moment really good about. So with those two on board that would give them a big wideout (Dukes 6'5), and an athletic big wideout (Treadwell 6'3 but 175). Still room for another.
4. TE- Finished they have two.
5. OL- Finished probably. Tully-Tillman (OT), Fox (OG), Bosch (OT). Maybe they take a center prospect, but they look to be finished.
6. DT- They want two in this class and currently have 1.
7. DE- They have 1 in this class and want two.
8. LB- They have 0 but only want 1 and are hoping for a MLB.
9. DB- Have 1 and are looking for one more.
10. S- Have 1 and maybe want 1 more, could possibly go after 3 DB's.

Re: Michigan Football Recruiting 2013
I wanted to clarify this myth about since August OSU has been killing UM for recruits. Couldn't be further from the truth. There is a weekly blog called the Ozone where the author does a Michigan Monday. He claims since August OSU has been killing UM in recruiting for players they both want. While I have said over and over OSU WILL BEAT UM for the majority of top rated Ohio recruits, all UM has to do is steal a difference maker or three from them.
I don't know why the author is concentrating on September as is, I guess it is just easier to ignore the months before that to further his case. These are the players.
2012
Adolphus Washington- Was never coming to UM, once Strobel and Wormley committed they stopped recruiting DE's.
Se'Von Pittman- Tried committing to UM, they told him no-grades.
Noah Spence- Was never interested in UM, and they stopped actively recruiting him back in probably March.
Taylor Decker- Once he committed to ND they stopped recruiting him.
Joey O'Connor- This guy never had a scholly...period.
David Perkins- OSU won that one but UM had 4 LB's by August, no room for another.
Camren Williams- UM offered then got 4 LB's, they stopped recruiting him long before Urban got there.
Armani Reeves- OSU won.
Kyle Dodson- Stoped recruiting him once he signed with Wisconsin.
Brionte Dunn- OSU won.
So of those players, yes most had a UM offer, but majority of them weren't even being recruited by UM by August (exception Dunn, Reeves, and Washington). So yes OSU beat UM for guys like Dunn, Reeves, Perkins, and Washington. The rest weren't being recruited by UM once Urban showed up.
What this author fails to include is the fact that Urban went after Kyle Kalis, AJ Williams, Tom Strobel, Chris Wormley, and Joe Bolden once he was hired. So did OSU lose those guys since they were actively being recruited by Urban though committed to UM? Michigan had what 20-21 commits by August, there is no way they could have taken half of these guys regardless, and already full at most positions (LB, DE).
2013
Cameron Burrows
Billy Price
Eli Woodard.....OSU won all three, no complaints here.
UM 2013
Dynomite Thomas-UM won and OSU is still actively recruiting
Wyatt Shallman- UM won and OSU was actively recruiting
Chris Fox- UM won
Logan Tully Tillman- UM won
So this season UM has 4 commits all who were being actively recruited by OSU, while OSU has three UM was going after.
As you can see things are much tighter then this author is inaccurately making them out to be.

Re: Michigan Football Recruiting 2013
Michigan gets commit #12 from Ohio WR Jurron Dukes. Dukes is 6'4, 200 and projected 4-star.
Michigan needs at minimum one more WR.
That is 3 kids out of Columbus, Ohio.

Either that or he has his eyes on a bigger prize.... I wouldnt be suprised to see kids from the south coming up to play for Mr. Meyer1987chieftains wrote:orban must be napping at the wheel letting all of these kids get by him.
Re: Michigan Football Recruiting 2013
The scout 500 came out today. Michigan has 3 5-star kids so far and knocking on the door of a fourth and the top RB in the country Ty Issacs who will be in AA for the 5th time this winter.
Urban is having a more difficult time recruiting the midwest imo. It's easy when you just take another teams kids, it is another to have to go get them.

Re: Michigan Football Recruiting 2013
UM has volume early.
OSU's lowest rated commit is ranked ahead of 10 of the Michigan kids.
Hoke hit the trail and got kids early, but in the end Meyer will have a top 3 class.
And Dymonte Thomas is a strong case as a flip!

That is a violation, albeit a secondary violation.C-Bolt wrote:Might have paid a steep price for it

OSU self reported violations of this type several times.
Re: Michigan Football Recruiting 2013
Yea now that i'm thinking about it they will probably just get probation, but since they had 4 major violations just a couple years ago it might get the NCAA turning over stones in Ann Arbor and lord knows what else might come out
