What are your thoughts on this Dubs are you happy or is this a big hit??????seofan_via_dublin wrote:I expect them to be announced Friday, just a guess, but it's the last day of recruit contact before the dead period.
I figure either late today, or on Friday.
It would be the last chance to harm the recruiting process, announcing right before the staff can't have contact with the recruits.

1. Ohio State already self-imposed a 3 year probationary period.peake wrote:Heard the sanctions are coming down soon and they will look like this:
1. 3 year probation
2. Vacated wins
3. post season bowl ban (2012)
thats it.
2. Ohio State already self-imposed a penalty of vacating all wins from the 2010 season, including a 2011 Sugar Bowl victory.
3. Highly doubtful.
Thanks for telling us what you "heard" though... :aaaaa56

I really dont see a post season ban for 2012. If they wanted to ban OSU for a bowl game, this year would have been the more realistic year since 4/5 of the involved players are still on the team. But punishing schools down the road, long after the involved players are gone, seems to be something the NCAA doesnt mind doing.

JTownie,
Thanks for the smart-A remark.
Just reporting what I heard from someone who actually works for the NCAA.
We will all find out together.

I wouldn't be shocked with a bowl ban for 2012.
Though I'm doubtful that it happens.
Doubtful, meaning just under 50%.
Though, like I said, I could see it happening.

I think it's probably deserved, and should have been a proactive step to miss this year.
Urban's pitch though, has been that nothing else is going to happen at OSU.
Whether this means, all the skeletons are out, and no further infractions are due, or if it means that our self imposed sanctions are it, that is soon to be discovered.
I don't think Meyer would openly tell recruits this if he didn't have strong info supporting it.

As for conference champ game, if your post season banned, the B10 has set ruling that your also title game banned.peake wrote:to be clear I was told post season ban, so not sure it is championship game if in it or bowl.
I would think this is true for BCS title too.

Along with what you said dubs as part of meyer's recruiting pitch, I read from the brionte Dunn interview that Meyer told him that no more infractions would be handed down and nothing to worry about. Like you, I think he has good info to openly tell this to his recruits. Only time will tell though.

I expect an announcement Friday, just my hunch.
No inside info on timeline, just an informed guess based on what I've been reading and the way announcements have been timed throughout the saga!

Very impressed by what Urban Meyer has already done in recruiting just barely on the job........the Buckeyes have taken a big jump in the rankings since Meyer took charge........more of that to come!!

Meyer is bringing "Friday Night Lights" to Columbus.
This was a one day high profile recruit summer camp that ended with an open to the public, free, night time skills exhibition. It was a huge recruiting tool at UF, and should be a great summer event at The Shoe!

Fickell has an offer from Pitt, and the weekend to accept it.
They will be interviewing Paul Cryst Saturday.
If he wants it, it's his. He is in PA now, with Vrable at Noah Spence's playoff game.

Re: Scout.com reports Meyer, OSU agree to deal.
Fickell news is fluid as always.
Here's the newest solid "from the horses mouth" stuff.
Meyer, Fickell, Vrable, and Taver Johnson are all in Hershey, PA for Noah Spence's state title game.
Also there is Tom Bradley and 4 PSU guys, and at least 1 from LSU.
Fickell told the Pitt newspaper that he has not interviewed for the job, and that he doesn't have one scheduled. He also added, he wants to be a head coach when the time is right, but right now he feels that he has room to grow first.
So, while some reports have him as having an offer, his words are that he hasn't even interviewed.
We've seen the word game with OSU and Meyer, the "offer" is good through the weekend if true, so I guess we'll know either way by Monday.
My gut thought, he stays at OSU at least one more season.

Well, my thought of Friday came and passed.
If they wait till next Friday and announce it as a Christmas present, I'll be Ticked!
