If Im not mistaken in 2003 USC and LSU were co-champs. USC was the BCS champ and LSU coaches champs. Remener part of the polls is what have you done. Teams like Bama, LSU, Texas, OSU and the perinal powerhouses have a bigger claim because of who they are. Boise is starting to get that considerationin the polls. Maybe next year will be their year to get a shot at the NC, but as of nowonly one true National Champ and thats BAMA.
If you include all the conference champions plus those that don't win there conference but are ranked then 32 seems like a good number. How many times in the last 20 years have there been 2 or 3 loss teams that could stack up against the number 1 team? You cut the Season back to 11 games 12 with a conference championship, have one week off and play the next 5 weeks.
