Ohio State Off Season All Things (2020 Football Season To Resume 10/24))
Re: Ohio State Suspends Recruiting Travel and Recruit Visits
This topic probably should have read: General News or Information about Ohio State Players Present and Past, but I've added so many other things that it still wouldn't be accurate. Another Ohio State player has made a preseason watch-list, as Ohio State TE Luke Farrell was one of 36 TE named to the watch-list for the John Mackey Award, which honors the nations best TE. A 5th year senior, Farrell is entering his 3rd yr as the Buckeyes starting TE. He has only 28 carrer receptions for 343 yd and 3 td, but is very highly regarded for his outstanding blocking ability in an Ohio State offense that doesn't typically use it's TE heavily as receivers. Farrell is one of 8 Big Ten TE's to be selected to the Mackey Award List this year.
Re: Ohio State Suspends Recruiting Travel and Recruit Visits
Four Star cornerback Jordan Hancock has decommitted from Clemson, and has committed to Ohio State. The Buckeyes have reached into Clemson's pocket and snagged one of America's best cornerbacks in the class of 2021. He gives the Buckeyes their 12th top 100 player, and the country's #6 ranked CB in the class of 2021. Hancock's offer sheet was impressive, as he held offers from Georgia, Clemson, Alabama, Florida, Oklahoma, Penn State, Florida State, and many more.
Re: Ohio State Suspends Recruiting Travel and Recruit Visits
Jordan Hancock was ranked 294th over all, No-24 at CB and No-26 in the state of Georgia in Mid-January. He became one of the fastest rising prospects in the nation by the time he was offered by Clemson in early Jan. For a while, it looked like he was a Buckeye lean until he made an Unofficial visit to Clemson in March, and a commitment to Dabo Swinney's program soon followed. He said that how hard the Buckeyes continued to recruit him, was a big factor in him deciding that he really wanted to be a Buckeye. He also said that the atmosphere at the game that he watched the Buckeyes and Wisconsin play, was intense and that it was the best visit that he had taken. Hancock will come to Columbus as a 4-star CB who polished his game while playing at the highest level of high school football in Suwanee, Georgia.VetteMan wrote: ↑Sun Jul 19, 2020 4:09 pm Four Star cornerback Jordan Hancock has decommitted from Clemson, and has committed to Ohio State. Buckeye defensive back Shaun Wade has been named to the Jim Thorpe Award Watch List. This is the 3rd time this offseason that Wade has been named to a Watch List for a National Award. Wade who was previously named to the watch lists for both the Bednarik Award and the Lott Impact Trophy. The Thorpe award honors college footballs best defensive back. Wade will be a redshirt junior this season. He should be a Thorpe Award finalist right from the get-go, says coach Ryan Day. Their are 49 players on the watch list including 3 other players from the Big 10. Ohio State has had two previous winners, Antoine Winfield in n1998, and Malcolm Jenkins in 2008.
Re: Ohio State Suspends Recruiting Travel and Recruit Visits
Two more preseason Watch Lists for National Awards were released on Tuesday, and 4 Buckeyes were honored in the process. Ohio State offensive linemen Wyatt Davis, Josh Myers, and Thayer Mumford were all named to the Watch List for the Outland Trophy, which honors college footballs best offensive or defensive linemen. Buckeye CB Shan Wade, meanwhile earned his 4th preseason Watch List as he was named a nominee for the Bronco Nagurski Trophy, which honors college footballs most outstanding defensive player. Ex Buckeye Chase Young won the award last year. Ohio State players that have previously won the Outland Trophy are as follows: 1956-Jim Parker, 1970-Jim Stillwagon, 1973-John Hicks, and 1996-Orlando Pace.
Re: Ohio State Suspends Recruiting Travel and Recruit Visits
Ohio States defense will have plenty of new faces in 2020, but if there's one area where fans will see familiarity with the Buckeyes, it's at linebacker. While the Buckeyes must replace 3rd Rd NFL draft pick Malik Harrison, Ohio State has several upperclassmen linebackers returning this fall. On Monday, The Watch List for the 2020 Butkus Award was announced by the Downtown Athletic Club of Orlando. Featured among the 51 linebackers on the Watch List are three Ohio State players: Tuf Borland, Baron Browning, and Pete Werner. Ohio State has had two previous Butkus Award Winners, Andy Katzenmoyer in 1997, and James Laurinaitis in 2007.

As NFL training camps prepare to get underway on July 28th, lets take a quick look at which colleges expect to have the most alumni on the league rosters this coming season. These numbers will obviously change more than once for a lot of the schools following roster cuts/additions going forward, but the Buckeyes will be well represented across the NFL once again regardless. The Buckeyes currently rank second with 63 former players, trailing only Alabama and it's impressive 74 at the moment. The Top 10 schools are as follows: Alabama (74), Ohio State (63), LSU (59), Florida (55), Miami Fla. (52), Georgia (51), Penn State (47), Notre Dame (44), Oklahoma (40), Florida State (39), and many other standout programs as follows: Tennessee (38), USC (37), Texas (36), and Texas A@M (36). The Buckeyes should be at 63 1/2 because of Joe Burrow, that would only be fair. I went back and forth over this list with a fine tooth comb just knowing that Michigan would have to be on this list, I'm not sure if I'm happy or if I'm sad, but I have to report that they are nowhere to be found.
Re: Ohio State Suspends Recruiting Travel and Recruit Visits
Ohio States kicker and punter have both beeb recognized among college footballs best at their respective specialties entering the 2020 season. Blake Haubeil is one of 30 players on the preseason Watch List for the Lou Groza Award, which honors college footballs best kicker. Drue Chrisman is one of 19 punters on the Watch List for the Ray Guy Award which honors the nations best punter. Ohio State has had one previous winner of each award: BJ Sanders won the Ray Guy Award in 2003, while Mike Nugent won the Lou Groza Award in 2004.
Re: Ohio State Suspends Recruiting Travel and Recruit Visits
College Football's Holy Grail will be raised by the Ohio State Buckeye's this season, at least that's what one of the games biggest insiders says. Phil Steele has selected Ohio State as his pick for this years college football playoff National Champions. Steele is best known for his 2020 College Football Preview magazine that contains over 350 pages of in-depth information for each college football season. The fact that he pickd the Buckeyes to raise the most coveted trophy in the game is quite noteworthy. Steele said that he was going with Ohio State this year, I was very impressed with what Ryan Day did, I thought Ohio State last year was two touchdowns better than the previous years Ohio State teams. The Buckeyes return 10 starters ( 6 ) on offense, ( 4 ) on defense. He thinks, with 2020 only being in-conference play for OSU, that the Buckeyes have a clear path back to the postseason. Ohio State went undefeated last year in Big Ten play, plus Fields was also named Big 10 Offensive Player of the year.
Re: Ohio State Off Season All Things
Ohio State running back Master Teague 111 has been named to the Watch List for the Wuerffel Trophy, which honors college football players who serve others, celebrate their positive impact on society, and inspire greater service in the world. Entering his third year with the Buckeyes, Teague has made a name for himself not only with his play on the field, but also with his character off the field as well.
Re: Ohio State Off Season All Things
Today, Chase Young became a very wealthy young man, as the #2 overall pick in the 2020 NFL , signed his 4-year rookie contract with the Washington franchise. His deal is worth 34.56 million, and will receive 22.6 million signing bonus upfront. Young's deal is slightly more than the deal that fellow Buckeye Nick Bosa signed last year with the San Francisco 49ers. Bosa's deal last year was 33.5 million, which included a signing bonus of 22.4 million. Young is also the highest draft pick to sign a deal so far, as Cincinnati's Joe Burrow, the #1 overall pick has yet to sign his contract. Wow, that's 3 Ex Buckeyes since last year and this year, to sign 3 pretty large NFL contract's.
Re: Ohio State Off Season All Things
It appears as if the Buckeyes are still in contention for one of the nations top offensive tackles, as 5-star OT Tristan Leigh has released a list of 5 schools that he has narrowed his choice down to. The Buckeyes, LSU, Alabama, Clemson and Oklahoma. ( 5 pretty good heavyweights to chose from ) Leigh has been one of the Buckeyes top remaining targets for the class of 2021.Leigh attends Robinson Secondary High School in Fairfax, Virginia, and is ranked as the #1 player in his state, as well as the #3 offensive tackle and #11 over-all prospect in the class of 2021.
Re: Ohio State Off Season All Things
Ohio State star cornerback Shaun Wade would probably not play, if the college football season is moved to the spring. Both of Shaun's parent's have said that their son would sit out the season if it eventually gets moved to the spring of 2021 due to the concerns about coronavirus. In that case, Wade would probably spend that time preparing for the NFL draft instead. If it gets to that point, the Buckeyes would probably have to push forward without Wade, who already delayed the start of his NFL career earlier this year in order to return for his redshirt junior season. Justin Fields is the other obvious candidate playing for the Buckeyes who would also probably sit out, even though he or his parents have not actually commented up until now.
Re: Ohio State Off Season All Things
As you might expect, Ohio State QB Justin Fields has been named to the Watch List for the Maxwell Award, which like the Heisman Trophy honors college football's best player. Fields is one of 90 players on the list. Friday's announcement of the Maxwell Award Watch List concludes the NCAA's two week rollout of preseason Watch Lists.

I couldn't decide which Forum to post this as he wasn't an NFL free agent, but he was a 1st Rd draft pick in the recent NFL draft. The player that made the right decision in returning to the Buckeyes for his senior season, was rewarded big time today, as Damon Arnette has signed his rookie contract with the Las Vegas Raiders worth 13.4 million, with a 7.3 million dollar signing bonus. Arnette played 95% of the season with a broken hand, and played very well, never asking out of the line-up all season. The Raiders signed the 1st Rd pick, the 19th overall pick in the draft, making him the 7th former Ohio State defensive back to be taken in the 1st Rd since 2014. Those 7 players: Bradley Roby, Eli Apple, Marshon Lattimore, malik Hooker, Denzel Ward, Jeff Okudah, and now Arnette make up over 40% of the 17 former Buckeyes who were 1st Rd picks during that time span.

Re: Ohio State Off Season All Things
I'm just sure that some shrewd lawyer already has this situation figured out, it just had to be a " He said ", " She said " occurrence, being that he is probably one of their better football players. Mississippi football player Sam Williams has been charged with sexual battery. He is indefinitely suspended from all team activities. He was booked on July 24th, and released the same day on 25,000 dollar bond. Old Miss said that they take these charges very seriously, and will allow the legal system to run it's course, before making any determinations on his status in our program.

Although it shatters my old school student-athlete philosophy about college sports, OSU football is a pathway to financial rewards greater than any academic field of study.

I read that earlier in the day, Eleven Warriors is a pretty good site especially if you are a big Buckeye fan. I'm still trying to figure out someway as to how the Buckeyes can get at least a half credit for the contract that Joe Burrow will be signing very soon, being that his contract will be the largest contract of them all. Re: Ohio State Off Season All Things
It appears as if Ex Buckeye Tate Martell won't even have a chance to compete for the starting QB job at Miami, as Head coach Manny Diaz has already named transfer D'Erio King as the starter. Diaz said that King's hard work on and off the field has earned him the starting QB position. Martell was a great high school QB. but his style of play just doesn't always translate to the college game as we now see it.
