Not sure there’s a whole lot to really say about the spring game. It’s always fun to watch, but it’s just a glorified practice with some bells and whistles attached to it. Defense was very vanilla as advertised. Although I feel like I seen some guys flying around I liked that, some guys looked bigger and stronger as well. Offense was watered down as well. All 3 QB’s looked good, WR core is top notch again, and Pryor had a nice game. He should see more playing time this season as the change of pace back, maybe kick returner as well. Will be interesting to see if anyone else transfers since the spring is over with now.

I know you were trying to stir the pot, but you made an astute observation about Ohio State football and college football in general.

The Buckeyes are still one of the top programs, but interest in OSU football seems to be in a bit of decline the further out we get from their national championship year of 2014.

Buckeye home games are no longer legitimately sold out in terms of fans in the stadium. Also a lot of the CFP or bust mentality is now missing from OSU media coverage. Sadly overall attendance and interest in college football is trending down.

That said, college football needs new story lines to rekindled interest, attendance, and TV ratings. Somebody needs to beat the SEC in the playoffs and some of the old line blue blood programs need to rise up. Michigan did their part in being a new face in the playoffs last year. Will 2022 be a repeat of SEC! SEC! ? Hopefully the narrative will change.

Ironton's Reid Carrico has been been projected as first on the OSU football depth chart at strong side linebacker.

OSU junior defensive end Noah Potter has entered the transfer portal.

The four star recruit out of Mentor Ohio was buried on the depth chart after missing all of 2021 with an eye injury.

This leaves Ohio State at 86 scholarships, one over the NCAA limit.

No one ever said that Ohio State fans were rational in their fandom..I live in the Land of Clemson now, and Tiger fans view Ohio State fans as delusional and holier than thou about the Buckeyes. Case in point no championships since 2014 and holding a flawed Urban Meyer upon a pedestal. The bottom line is those who live in glass houses should throw no stones.

The redshirt sophomore defensive back entered the transfer portal on Monday, an Ohio State spokesperson confirmed.

Cavazos was not in attendance for Ohio State’s student appreciation day on Saturday, and now, he’s opted to leave the team altogether to continue his college football career elsewhere in search of increased playing time.

A four-star recruit in the class of 2020, Cavazos appeared in 11 games last season as a backup cornerback but appeared unlikely to be any higher than fifth on the cornerback depth chart in 2022 with Denzel Burke and Cameron Brown returning as starters and the emergence of second-year cornerbacks Jordan Hancock and Jakailin Johnson.(excerpt)

The first of several Buckeye players expected to enter the transfer portal. You hate to see it but with the Buckeyes currently over the scholarship limit and with new coaches evaluating players, turnover of players is unavoidable.

I think the real surprise is that Haskell Garrett went undrafted and only one OSU defensive player was selected. I guess this is a reflection on State's defensive woes over the last two seasons.

National Champion Georgia led all schools with 15 players being drafted.
