I don't know if you are addressing me or not, but trust me, I am quite aware of how General Troll takes every opportunity to bash Ohio State's program whenever he can. I was merely responding to his faithful followers of a select few.
I was responding to raiderball.
He doesn't usually reach the depths of wretchedness that the general does, so I was a little surprised to see his defense of the obvious trolling.
Those of you who practice a religion might want to bow your heads this Sunday
and say a prayer for Rich Rodriguez. Governor Ted Strickland of Ohio has
declared Sunday Rich Rodriguez Prayer Day in Ohio. Churches throughout the
state will pause in their regularly scheduled services to pray that Rich
Rodriguez holds onto his job as Head Football Coach at U. of Michigan. As
Governor Strickland said, "Rich Rodriguez has been an excellent role model for
the youth of Ohio as well as the young people of Michigan. Despite incredible
frustrations during the last three years, he has not once resorted to violent
crime. That is a record that any coach would be proud of.
We hope that Rich is the Michigan head football coach for many decades to come.
Tressel doesn't always hold back his talent. He coaches them, and if you want to say holds them back I'll accept it, but he allows them to do what he trusts them to do.
Craig Krenzel was allowed to call plays at the line. He checked down to second and third options at wr. When nothing was there after he checked, he would run, and pick up nessesary yards with his feet. Craig was a genius, and he commanded the team and the field of play. Tress trusted him, and he let him have more rope.
Troy Smith did not have Tressel's trust until his senior year. He was told what plays to run, where to run them, and if he read a defense Pre snap he was only allowed to check down to a run play. He got it between his junior and senior year. He showed during fall camp and the early season games, that he was a leader, he could make reads, he could command the field, and Tressel could trust him. His senior year, the play book was opened, he was given the keys, and he won the heisman.
Terrelle Pryor has yet to earn Tressel's trust. He had yet to show that he can lead his team at the highest level, he has not shown maturity on the field, and frankly he had yet to show that he has his team's interest above his own. TP is a freak athlete, but he has yet to show in practice, in the film room, or on the field, that JT can give him the same latitude as Krenzel or Smith.
Do I wish the Buckeyes ran a more explosive offensive system, HELL YES! But not at the sacrifice of consistency. I've watched 6 straight conference titles, constant BCS games, unrivaled historic success over Michigan, with the system that Tressel runs. Other teams that run a different system have experienced great highs, but Ohio State has not experienced the lows that many of these flash programs have went through.
I don't think TP has the football intelligence to be given the full control and trust that he would need to run the system that the General wants to see.
Those SEC teams pop up and then another one replaces them, and when they go down, they lose 4+ games. Why? Tough competition is part of it. The other part is they try to let that talent hang "loose" even when it is young and mistake-ridden.
Then again, Alabama won a NC with ball control offense, smash-mouth defense, and good special teams. I didn't see that offense playing loose.
After todays bowl game and the awful showing, my bet he is gone before the end of next week. UM AD says he will have more to say on the UM coaching job "...at the back half of next week..." This should give him plenty of time to talk to Harbaugh after Stanfords bowl game on Monday.
He's gotta go and it couldnt be fast enough. The D didnt improve AT ALL over this season or the past three seasons. I love Michigan but if they keep him as coach I will not watch another game with him calling the plays. Heck I'll start cheering for Lousiville.
Lsoing is one this but the way we lost today is another. Just too many mistakes.
As I'm watching the waterboy I had an idea for Michigan football. They can use the towelboy! Na that probably wouldn't work either @ic rod mess that it also.
I liked what craig James and the other announcer said after the 4th qtr TD by Miss St when the RB ran over three Mich players to make it 52. James said "all this is now is Miss St taking Mich behind the wood shed, pulling down their pants, bending them over and giving them an old fashion butt whipping."
I would really love to have RR for one more year at Mich. That would be sad to not beat on him anymore.
