Ezekial Elliots run towards irrelevancy

What is the old proverb about chickens and counting them before they’ve hatched? Don’t count your chickens until they’ve been scrambled? Who knows? But basically an old Chinese man was talking to a young boy one day. The boy was telling the old man about all the fish he was going to catch and how the girl he had a crush on would fall in love with him and the village girls would all adore him. The old man, born along side dirt, had been around the village for a long time and told the young boy, don’t believe in expectations until they’ve been met or something like that. From that, English writer Dolton Fields coined the phrase “Don’t go counting your chickens until they’re out of the egg.â€
Let’s talk about Ezekial Elliot for a moment since the talk of him has died down after 4 weeks of disappointing numbers. The great news is Elliots dog Chase, was found after he was reported stolen. Everyone can smile at that reunion and we’re very happy to hear he’s home. However, The once Heisman favorite isn’t even the Heisman favorite on his team at this point. To begin, let’s toss out his forgettable freshmen campaign where he only rushed for 262 yards and 2 touchdowns, numbers LSUs Leonard Fournette captured in 1 game. Last year, Elliot stunned the nation in the buckeyes post season run towards a “Championship.†Zeke’ was held to 32 yards against Virginia Tech in a game where the Buckeyes needed a running game, ultimately falling to the Hokies at home 34-20. Against Navy, he ran for a whopping 44 yards and just 91 yards on nearly 20 attempts against Minnesota.
Elliot was successful at times tallying 182/154/159 yards but those were against juggernauts like Cincinnati and Maryland. It wasn’t until the big ten championship that Elliot finally produced to the sweet sound of 220 yards. Granted it was Wisconsin, he followed up that performance with 230 and 246 yards against Alabama and Oregon. This was a testament to how great Ezekial Elliot was right? He torched the highly touted Tide defense and sent the Ducks quacking all the way back to Autzen. The problem is that Elliot produced those numbers against the #78 and #95 ranked Running Defenses in the country. You can’t even find Wisconsin on the list! Elliot was able to capitalize on the big stage and kudos to him, he made a statement and was anointed the next Heisman Trophy winner on the buckeyes unstoppable “next man up,†offense. It’s week 5 of the 2015 season, maybe it’s time for that “next man,†to take Elliots spot.
With the eyes of the nation on Blacksburg, Virginia on a sultry night in September, Elliot and the most explosive offense in the country took on the Virginia Tech Hokies in a revenge game from last years embarrassing loss in Columbus. Elliot looked to pick up where he’d left off last season, torching the Hokies defense for an 80 yard touchdown. Twitters blew up with Heisman chatter and every drunk, pompous buckeye fan in the country flexed their muscles in their replica jerseys.
And since that 80 yard touchdown run, we’ve had nothing to praise Elliot for. He grew up and started wearing a normal length jersey. Teams started understanding that you need to follow fundamental basics of tackling. Ezekial Elliot was exposed as the average running back he is. And then, Elliots worst nightmare arrived in the Bayou.
Leonard Fournette introduced himself to America and said “Give me Elliots touches and in two games i will outshine him and that’s exactly what Fournette did. Going for over 250 yards in back to back games, Fournette has established himself as the premiere back in College Football. Fournette is all action. No tattoos, half jerseys or look at me tactics. He’s not asking out musicians on twitter. He’s just playing football.
Let’s play a numbers game
Would you rather have…….
71 attempts/599 yards/6 touchdowns
or
73 attempts/631 yards/8 touchdowns
I’d take either. And those are the stats for Nick Chubb of Georgia and LSUs Fournette. Ezekial Elliots numbers aren’t good enough to even entertain the idea of lumping him in with those two but for fun, his are 77 attempts/ 455 yards/ 5 touchdowns. And people in Columbus want him to get more touches??? He has more than two of the best backs in the SEC. Alabama’s Derrick Henry has fewer touches and produced as well as Elliot. Those are just the top 3 backs in the SEC, all of which are playing better football than the buckeyes “star.†Where does Elliot rank in the power 5? somewhere between not relevant and completely irrelevant.
Elliot needs to focus on football and not on tweeting Taylor Swift or complaining that he cant wear uniforms that don’t fit. We get it, you have abs. So does Jeff Jarrett and he never sold a dime. ohio state needs Zeke’ to get his mind on football and if Elliot wants a ticket to New York, he’s 300 yards behind.

Thought he was the best back out of osu in a long time by the end of last years title run , but this year just doesnt seem to have the same determination .

That and the entire offense appears about a half step slow and out of synch. Jones is just plain not quick of foot or mind as Barrett. This I believe has caused Elliot not to able to hit this holes quickly. Still his production has been decent.
The Bucks have gone from a potential of three Heisman contenders to none not even half way through the season. Still, the talent on offense is unreal and the Bucks are still in the CFP hunt. Maybe at some point the mystery will be resolved.

A couple points for this moron:
1. Zeke hasn't had a game under 100 yards since the first half of last season.
2. Troll
3. TROLL
4. There are no other backs that can say they have accomplished #1

Zeke has over 100 yards each game this year, and a long streak.
If you stop Fornette, LSU loses.
If you stop Chub, Georgia loses.
If you stop Zeke, OSU still wins, because they have more to work with.
If they passed out Heismans after September, Michigan would have at least 3 more.
They don't, and don't go crying about Zeke's numbers now, when he still has 11 more games to play.
He'll end up between 1,650 and 1,900.

Averaging 100-115 yds a game against the turd schedule they play isn't exactly setting the world on fire .

What a bad first half. This is why everyone loves Fournette or Chubb or even Henry. Those guys get 10 every time they touch the ball. Elliot relies on huge runs to bump his 1.1ypc to respectable. Bad news for Elliot is that Fournette got 200+ again and is still football fields ahead of him in the heisman race.

It slays me to see it everywhere. Ohio State survives upset bid. Hey ya'll Indiana has a fine club that was 4-0. It does not say. Michigan State barely gets by Purdue by 3. Clemson tops Notre Dame. LSU eeks by Eastern Michigan. UCLA gets smashed.Bama crushes Georgia. Just harping on OSU. Guess what they have won like 18 in a row. Are ''Defending National Champions and still Unbeaten''. If Ohio State gets to 20-0. It will be the 3rd time Urban has done that as a coach. Or that the Buckeyes have the longest win streak ever in the Big Ten, Ever !!!!!!! -----------Call it what you want the Bucks just keep rolling along. They keep winning. When you are the National Champion you are going to be everybody's target. And you'll get everybody's best effort. And kudo's to Dave Wannstadt for arguing this, As everybody trys to talk Bama up to 1. Many announcers wanted Ole Miss to be number 1. And they got their crops dusted in ''the swamp'' by the Gators. And Ole Miss beat Bama. Stuff that in yer pipe n smoke it === Ozzie

You sure do know your football Gloaming...parents, don't let your children on the internet.
Fournette: 99 attempts, 864 yds (8.7 per), 11 TDs, #1 in nation
Chubb: 91 attempts, 745 yds (8.2 per), 7 TDs, #3 in nation
Elliott: 100 attempts, 729 yds (7.3 per) 8 TDs, #5 in nation
Henry: 93 attempts, 570 yds (6.1 per) 9 TDs, Tied for #19 in nation
So clearly, Elliott is better than Henry. Only 7 more attempts 159 more yards (1.2 per).
The reason Chubb and Fournette have more yds than Elliott? They are both the only option on their teams. OSU has many different players that get the ball, LSU and UGA have awful QBs/passing attack.
Once again, parents don't let you children on the internet.
