sok: With all due respect to Marshall, they played New Hampshire last year and lost. Not saying they will lose to IS, but, ask MI about Appy.

I've seen them predicted to finish in a bowl game and I've seen them predicted to be dead last... it all tells me that no one really has a clue.

This is redundant but leaving the MAC was a MAJOR MISTAKE! I think if I were them I would beg to get back in at this point. They were more suited for that conference.

I dont see a positive in the c-usa.The MAC is a more prestegious conference and more respected. The MAC is better in a real important area these days...Travel...No comparison there. What's the longest trip N.Illinois or Buffalo?

I think 2008 will be a good year in Herd country. ;-)

BP you and I agree on a million things but the MAC being more prestigious than the C-USA. Wasn't Memphis the NCAA National Basketball Champions? That in itself was a plus for the C-USA.

I would agree the Herd has some tough sledding ahead of them. Wisconsin, West Virginia and Memphis will be a load.

Marshall will not go 0-12. I will also say they will have a winning season this year. Everything is based off of last year. Even the Buckeyes are loaded with 20 starters back, top recruit in the country, 11-2 record from last year but they pick them 3rd!
Marshall is better off in C-USA. It is way better than the MAC. Marshall dominated the MAC every year and it got boring after dominating every year. C-USA has the NCAA basketball runnerup last year and the 2006 NCAA baseball National champions in RICE. Where does the MAC stack up to this?

Nope, that would be Kansas, as Mr. Calipari gagged that one.

As with most things in life, the move to CUSA was all about dead presidents for Marshall....word on the street is that MU athletics makes more by NOT going bowling in C-USA than they did by bowling annually in the MAC.

Yo, just follow the money, bro.

Back on topic.....if the Herd can win two of the three toss-ups, they have a shot at another three win season....but that's as good as it can get.

August 30 Illinois State WIN
September 6 at Wisconsin LOSS
September 13 Memphis TOSS-UP
September 20 at Southern Miss LOSS
September 27 at West Virginia LOSS
October 3 Cincinnati LOSS
October 18 at UAB TOSS-UP
October 28 Houston LOSS
November 8 at East Carolina LOSS
November 15 UCF LOSS
November 22 at Rice TOSS-UP
November 29 Tulsa LOSS

Things are not 'looking up" as Albert was pulled out of practice because of instability in his knee. For Marshall to be good this year, the defense needs Albert out there.

I agree with the last post. MU beat ECU last year. So, it is debatable on some of the teams they will beat.

Yes they were RRR but what I was meaning was really the history and longeveity of the MAC and how the media perceives it as it concerns the prestige part of it.I see your point and it's a valid one...I will e-mail or PM soon....

There is no doubt coach Snyder is on the hot seat this year to show a remarkable turn around.
This is his 4th year in and his third recruiting class. So, they are all his boys except for the seniors, which were the last of Bob Pruitt's class. They will start a freshman QB this year but he's got to show the rest of college football that he can lead this team past this year.

Coach Snyder's biggest mistake was leaving "THE OHIO STATE UNIVERSITY"
