i was watchin it live wen it happened, looked pretty bad. my heart dropped too, it looks like a high ankle sprain, i dont think he will be ready for USC. they took him into locker room on cart, came back out walkn on the sideline

The sideline reporter on BTN said they were initially examining his inner heel area before they put him on the cart. He had a "walking boot" on his foot when he came back out to the sidelines but he was bearing weight on it.

they said with him having a walking boot, it was probably only a strain.

bait, the game came on at halftime in Ironton, you should have been able to watch it from then on.

THANKS BALLPARENT, FOR THE MOST UPDATED REPORT I'VE HEARDSO FAR. I TOO WAS ASKING MYSELF WHY HE WAS STILL IN THERE IN A ROUTE TYPE SCORE. THEN THOUGHT OF THE HEISMAN PUSH. BOTTOM LINE , WE WILL HAVE TO SEE, WAS IT WORTH IT. WITH CONTROL OF THE GAME NEVER IN QUESTION. I HOPE SO.

He only had 12 carries at the time when he got injured.

The entire first half the Buckeyes struggled to get into the endzone once they were in the red zone.
They needed to work on that aspect of the game, and they were.
Unfortunate that Beanie was injured on the play, but this may be more of a Paul Pierce esque performance than a true injury.

Nevadbuck is saying that this will only be an issue of pain management for Beanie. I hope he is right.

My son in law had this same injury (toe tendon) if that is what it is in H.S.. He suffered the injury first game of the season and played every week into the State Finals. The problem was, he was never able to practice. Used the stationary bike and whirlpool during the week.

I heard he was out for and extended period of time but I don't think that is going to happen. I think he will skip the OU game and will at least try to go for the USC game. Even if Beanie can't go I think the other three backs in Mo Wells, Saine, and Hesson can get the job done. The Ohio State is going to be fine though. All USC does is run the ball so that sets up perfectly for our outstanding run defense. All we got to do is score in the red zone and stop settling for so many field goals.

We should have a more complete report tomorrow (perhaps...at least as much as they want to reveal....either good or bad) but here are a few statements gathered:

REPORTER: Coach, I heard turf toe, is that accurate?

COACH TRESSEL: I haven't heard that phrase used today with him.

REPORTER: So you fear maybe it's a broken bone?

COACH TRESSEL: No, the x-rays came out negative, but when the trainers came and said to me that it's more of a foot thing, they didn't use the phrase turf toe. They did use the phrase the x-rays were negative.

REPORTER: We were told he's headed to the doctor.

COACH TRESSEL: I would imagine, yeah.

REPORTER: Would you foresee him sitting out next week or --

COACH TRESSEL: Can't know.

*Update: According to the Columbus Dispatch, the injury to Chris "Beanie" Wells is not serious. Kicker Ryan Pretorius said he saw Wells in the training room before he left. "I spoke to Beanie, and he said it was just his big toe, and he said he's going to be fine," Pretorius said.

anybody else think the turf is terrible looking?

I was at the game in C deck, and still heard him yell in pain.

I had turf toe my senior year in high school, and it never goes away without several weeks of not jogging or running on it. It is very painful and gets aggrevated very easy.

They reported that he didnt practice yesterday and is still wearing the boot. I would think that with their team of doctors and specialists, they will have him ready for the USC game. They can give him "shots" to help with the pain during the game, something that we didnt have in the 90's when I had turf toe during football season. He should be fine unless something else is discovered.

Without Beenie Wells, I think it takes away at least 10 points off the board against USC. Beockman always underthrows the deep balls, which USC will pick off. Without the running game there are no routes open to throw to, and after watching Saine and Herron Saturday struggle running the ball against a YSU defense, we are in trouble with out Beenie.

Saine looked good on one option play from Pryor, but I think he has far from lived up to the hype surrounding him at tOSU.

In his weekly media luncheon Tressel said today that after talking to the training staff that Beanie would be "doubtful" for the OU game.

But he also mentioned that he saw Beanie this morning and he said he feels "great"
