Michigan v Utah

Michigan's offense looks as I expected them to be.

The defense looks awful. For the Big Ten's sake, they better get it together.

Utah's mistakes and penalties are keeping them in it right now.

Michigan may very well finish the season with a losing record in Big 10 play. Sluggish on both sides of the ball and that's putting it mildly.

#13 Matthews just threw a punch after the INT. Sheesh.

UM's on the ropes after that TD.
Things don't look good at all for Ann Arborites.

The Team Up North is making the Fans of WVU very happy. Coach Rod does not have the players to run his offense. Might be a long season unless the players step up like last year.

I think I've seen these officials before. I think it was the WVU/Pitt game from last season.

Utah is in panic mode and is imploding. Their QB reminds me of Steve Bellisari. He makes some big plays, but more than makes up for it by being dumber than a box of rocks.

Not really. When Wisconsin beat SEC West Champion Arkansas and PSU beat Tennessee, the only thing that garnered any attention was OSU losing to Florida. The only thing that seems to matter to the country is if OSU wins or not.

I am very hopeful after watching this first game. I was very happy with the way the UM defense played in the second half. The linebackers were getting abused in man coverage in the 1st half, but in the second half the linebackers zone and it made all the difference.

I was really pleased with the rush defense, they gave up all Dixon running all over the defense, and UM didn't let that happen.

The special teams were outstanding. Michigan has a lot of speed in the return game, and soon one of those explosive guys will break one.

The offense will get better. Sheridan looked much better than I thought he would. The o-line has to make holes for McGuffie, Shaw, and Minor. They did excellent picking up the blitz and keeping the heat off of the QB's, but the rb's had no holes to run through. I really expected to see Feagin in this game at some point, but it didn't happen.

Michigan is going to be fine. Utah is legit and will be a top 25 team. With that being said I would also like to point out that Michigan is going to be ok. Next season they will have a much better grasp of the offense and will have the experience and personel to run it better.

I hate to look towards next season already, but next year Michigan will have Sheridan, Threet, Feagin, Beaver, and Tate all at QB. McGuffie, Shaw, Brown, Grady, Gallon, Smith, Fitz, and Jones will all be at running back. Wideouts will be Hemmingway, Stonum, Matthews, Clemons, Odoms, Jackson, and McNeal. Tight ends will be Butler, KOger, and Moore. Everyone returns on the o-line.

Defense will see Will Johnson and Brandon Grahm back on the d-line, alone with Mike Martin and Will Campbell. Linebackers aside from Panter will all be back. In the secondary everyone returns aside from Trent.

A lot of talent and starters will return in 2009, so I am very optimistic.

How can you be happy, Your team just got beat by UTAH. Thats a joke. I prefer Michigan to win every game before we play them. Its alot more satisfying to beat them then.

First Utah didn't have a chance. Now they're the real deal. I thought Utah looked absolutely terrible in the 2nd half. Awful decisions and awful mistakes. Plus, Utah was trying to play it safe on offense, which was very similar to OSU's approach in 2007 against UM. "They can't beat us unless we turn it over or get a kick blocked, because they will not drive the length of the field for a score."

I would pick Wisconsin, Penn State, Illinois, Ohio State, and Michigan State over Utah.

Just whistling past the graveyard. My preseason thoughts are intact.

Wow, peake, looking toward next season already????

I don't care what offense it is, if you have talent, and Michigan has talent, how can you not find a way to win if you are such a great coach????

Utah served this game up on a platter to Michigan and they choked before they got a chance to take one bite from the buffet.

Get ready Michigan fans for a long season.

I mean, they just got beat, at home, by a non-BCS conference school. I know Utah is a strong program, but I'm sorry, that should never, EVER happen to Michigan. An OSU board would be in full on meltdown mode if it happened to Ohio State.

But I guess when you lose at home to a 1-AA team, your threshold for "how bad can it possibly get" is redefined. The rationalization for this loss is kicking in big time, and that combined with an almost palpable desperation to think positively about the new coaching staff has me shaking my head.

How the mighty have fallen.

I agree Utah did everything they could to lose this game and Mich wasnt good enough to take it.

Thats the worst Michigan performance ever.
