So what did you guys think of Pryor?

i missed the second half so i saw minimal play from pryor. i saw him in the first half and he didnt look too bad, just a few rookie mistakes. granted, tress had him running really simple stuff to get his confidence up and get him comfortable out there on the field.

the kid has a lot on his shoulders. all the hype, he's been thrown onto one of the largest stages in all of sports, his team is trying to shed the stigma of the past two NC games (not to mention a single loss would surely kill any chance of making a third straight title game appearence).

so...what's the prognosis?

Pryor's good, we all know that but I don't think that you can really get a measure of his capabilities from yesterday's game, which (no offense to Youngstown) amounted to nothing more than a scrimmage. He didn't have the pressure put on him yesterday, when that happens then we'll see what he has. I feel the whole team is going to have to kick it up a notch to compete with USC, but like I said I don't think we saw the OSU team with their complete game on, and we shouldn't have or the score would have been 80-0, wasted energy. I did like how Pryor seemed to enjoy just being a Buckeye, looked into the crowd several times, and even pumped them up.
I continue to be impressed with Joe Bauserman, very athletic, a strong QB.

After watching him in person, he looks effortless when he runs and can cut on a dime. All of his playing time was with the second string offensive line, which still blew YSU off the ball, but this kid is for real.

I look for him to spend alot of time under center against Ohio this week.

He just needs to get more playing time in . All rookies , especially the ones that receive so much media attention as he has, are going to be nervous . Aside from that, I think he looked good .

Pryor got moved ahead of Bauserman on the depth chart. Tressel tried to get him in a few minutes earlier in the fourth quarter in the OU game, before Ray Small's punt return, but it just didn't work out that way.

Tressel's remarks after the OU game:

REPORTER: What was your plan going in for quarterback rotation? Did you hope to get all three guys in? Did you play Pryor as much as you wanted to?

COACH TRESSEL: You always hope to get as many guys as you can. We wanted to get our whole second offense in either the third or the fourth series and I can't remember which one it was, I think it was the fourth maybe that we got them in, and they just -- they need to play to learn more about this game. And in fact, Terrelle was actually going to go in before Ray's punt return because I felt like we were going to get the ball near mid field and I said to Coach Bolls, I said, "Why don't we have Terrelle see if he could take this?" Whatever the score was, 6-point score, what was it, 19? And Coach Bolls says, "You sure you want to put him under pressure like that?" And I said, "When would you like his first pressure to be?" But then Ray took it back to the house and then he played the last five minutes or something.

Tressel's remarks concerning Pryoy in the USC game:

REPORTER: You were able to get Terrelle in a few series these first two games. Moving forward here on the road, a freshman, do you look at this as, well, maybe we don't or how do you have that plan going into this game?

COACH TRESSEL: Oh, no, I think we do because I think he brings a lot to the table. In fact, when we were winning by five points or whatever it was and they were punting to us, we were going to put him in. Maybe wouldn't put him in on our own three. You try to script for success and at least the best chance for it, but, no, I think he's proven, with his knowledge of what we're doing -- the only thing that holds back a freshman from playing in my mind is if they don't understand what we're doing and, therefore, their physical abilities can't take over, and the thing I've been impressed with with Terrelle is he understands what we're doing, so he'll have opportunities.

Hopefully the plays that Pryor is on the field for Saturday, he will be productive.

If we see a ton of Pryor, we will either be winning by 13 or more or getting our butts handed to us.

Pryor will not be one the field in key situations if it is a close game.

Bring him in on 3rd and short, and in goal line situations, bring him in for a "change of pace", but don't bring him in if we are down by a score and in the 4th quarter.

He will lose the game!!!

Dubs is right.

Bring him in 3rd and short. Bring him in if offense is sluggish or lacking pizazz. He would revive that. Goal line. Maybe 4th and 1, but I would give it to Beanie before TP. And only throw it with him once. Coach Meyer at Florida used Tebow perfectly in those situations.

It has been reported by those who claim to know, that Pryor took ALL of the snaps with the 1st team today, and Boeckman was not hurt.

It's about time. I'd rather see mistakes from him or even a loss as long as I know he is gaining skills and needed game time than to stay in the lackluster period we have been in.

Quotes made concerning Pryor before the USC game:

No chance of that happening. Boeckman beat him to it. :?

Yep, the offense was sluggish, he should have been the entire second half, if not much, much more. Pryor fires up our offense and when Pryor's in, opposing team's defense have that one more thing they have to worry about, go after the running backs or make sure he's not keeping the ball himself. I say let's start making those defenses worry just a bit more. This team needs something to shake them up.
