Don't know how a team can get beat by a sub par unranked opponent and not get punished in the polls.

i've seen fla. state, fla. and miami lose before and not even move, or move 1 notch down.

the main thing is it's based more on how much media, and numbers of news outlets and papers. more media more pressure to not punish as much.

Everyone knows that if Ohio St would've lost to Minnesota like USC lost to Oregon St and Florida lost to Ole Miss, then Ohio St would've gotten hammered by the voters.

The polls are nothing but popularity like stated above. USC will have to get beat by ND and UCLA to recieve any punishment. The voters are gonna keep them in the running for the National Title.

Good thing the AP Poll is just an ego stroker for the writers, because their poll means nothing in the BCS system.

Actually some of those voters in the AP also vote in the Harris, which does count.

3 teams in the top 10 lose yet ohio state is still 14th and those 3 teams are still ahead of them. i agree with usc because they beat osu, but florida lost at home to an unranked team, and georgia lost at home as well

Thats riduculous OSU loses to the then #1 and drops like 10 spots. These other teams lose to unranked opponenst at home and drop 1 spot. Its a media bias against the Big Ten.

They feel that USC would beat Oregon State if they played again but Ohio State couldn't beat USC if they played again.

Plus it is a team out of the Big Ten. If a Big Ten team gets beat it goes down a 1 1/2 in their minds and if it another team it only goes down in their minds as a 1/2. Just that simple. A lot of Mark Mays on the AP Poll

I'm an OSU fan, but I can clearly see that there is no way that OSU will ever make the National Championship game this year. It just won't happen. They were punished before the USC loss, by dropping in the polls after winning (the same happened to Georgia). Even if everyone else lost 2 games and OSU went undefeated the rest of the year, I honestly believe that the ALL voters will do everything in their power to make sure they would finish 3rd or 4th in the polls.

It is still early.

Ohio State needs to just keep winning and not worry about rankings. They have a big game at Winconsin and host a tough Penn State team.

The SEC and Big 12 teams will certainly beat up on each other.

I think it would be best if Ohio State won out and did not make the national title game.

well we may just get that chance in the rose bowl ..........or if the buckeyes win out and the right people lose could end up no.2

Cowherd today was telling his listeners to not be surprised if OSU is back in the title game if they win out, and that they are a totally different team with Wells and Pryor. Hmmm... he changes with the winds. Imagine that.

Pryor arouses the media. Deservedly so or not, he shakes it how they like it.

Also.....

"there are TWO programs who consistenly draw HUGE numbers---win/lose/close game/blowout....

those two teams are Ohio State and USC.......

the Fox execs that I talk to ALL THE TIME would give their first born for Ohio State in the NC game again......

"the storyline and the build up would be UNBELIEVEABLE"---David Hill CEO Fox Sports"

2008 could easily be up for grabs if the rest of the season is anything like this past Saturday. This is what makes college football so good. Every game means something. On the other hand though I would like to see a playoff in D1 or should I say FBS. At least that way it's not up to voters or some computer to determine who plays for the national title it's the teams job to get to that game. Last season for example LSU was #2 in the preseason poll which vaulted them into the national title game when all the upsets occured at the end of the season.

Ive seen Ohio State in person and Ive seen Florida in person. Ohio State is not better than Florida and does not deserve to be ranked ahead of Florida. If Pryor threw the balls he threw against Minnesota anywhere near Florida's DB's, he would have thrown 4 INT. Ohio State's line couldnt control Florida's d-line and Florida has the speed to contain Pryor. He would have his big plays, but not like he did against Troy or Minnesota. It may be an ugly game, but I see it as a 24-10 game at a neutral site.

When you lose to Mississippi at home, you should be no higher than 15th in the country. What a humiliating and embarrassing loss. 99% of all people on this board cant even tell me where Mississippi's campus is located, without looking. Geesh.
