If Notre Dame wins out (I know they would have to beat USC), could they play in a BCS game? What are the rules on Indy's getting into the BCS party?

Doesn't ND get an automatic bid if their BCS ranking is in the top 8?

I thought I heard someone say you have to be rank in the top 15, and win your conf, but where ND is an Indy, I don't really know I would have to guess ND to be rank in the top ten before someone gives them a real good hard look at playing in a BCS bowl.

# The highest ranked champion of a non-BCS conference will receive an automatic berth if:
* It is ranked in the top twelve, or
* Ranked in the top sixteen and higher than another BCS Conference champion.
# A special case is made for independent Notre Dame, which receives an automatic berth if it finishes in the top eight.
