Michigan--RRod---How it all went down.

Ok, so I had someone who I trust very much, explain to me what happened in terms of Bill Martin (AD), the search committee, and the hiring of Rich Rod.
As many of you know there was a search committee put together to research and nominate who they felt was the correct nominee to take over the head coaching position at Michigan. That search committee consisted of athletic administrators, former players, and a few select boosters.
The criteria for the Head Coaching Position were ---1) Michigan should be their dream job.
2) It needs to be a coach who is young and is looking to stay with Michigan for duration of career. 3) Successful program at current School. 4) Graduates Players. 5) Great recruiter of the program.
The search committee made the recommendation to hire Les Mile (more to come on this). After the recommendation, the other finalists were in this order: Kirk Ferentz, Rich Rod, Jeff Tedford, and Greg Schiano.
As you know Bill Martin still has the final say in who is selected as the Head Coach. One of the more influential persons close to Martin was none other than Lloyd Carr. This is important because of what I am getting ready to reveal.
Ok, so here it goes. The search committee comes to Martin with their final decision to hire Les Miles as the next Head Coach of the University of Michigan. Martin than tells the committee/board, that his final candidates look like this: Greg Schiano, Rich Rod, Kirk Ferentz, and Ron English.
The committee of course counters with we selected Les Miles and he is not even on your list. They then proceed to tell Martin that they expect him to hire who the suggest/ have selected. Martin says your suggestion/selection will be strongly taken into consideration.
When this happened the committee took his statement at face value and expected to see/hear Les Miles announced as the next Head Coach at the University of Michigan. This is where the leaks occurred. One of the more polished QB’s to play at Michigan, not mentioning any names, told Herby and several others what the board had concluded upon, and to expect Miles to be named the next Head Coach.
Herby was correct in reporting that Les Miles was to be the next Head Coach at Michigan, but only if Martin chose to take the recommendation of the committee.
Here is where it gets ugly. Lloyd “I am such a great teacher and man†Carr, as well stated by many, can’t stand Miles. What I have heard is it is a very personal matter that stems from a possible relationship between Miles and Carr’s first wife. Take it for what it is worth, but it fully explains the pure hate that Carr has for Miles. Carr suggests to Martin they do not hire Les Miles. Obviously there is really bad blood between the two, and finally Carr convinces Martin that Miles is not the right fit.
Les Miles was in contact with Michigan. His agent was trying desperately to get in touch with Martin, who was off sailing his boat (conveniently). Miles agent called several times and left messages about Miles being interested and wanting to take over at Michigan. Miles wanted this deal to be done quickly, but unfortunately for him Martin ignored every effort by Miles.
With that being said on a side not, makes you think what a class act Miles is for coming out and saying all those great things about Michigan when he should have been pissed for the way Martin and Carr did him over.
Moving on---
Martin decides that he needs to get in contact with Schiano and does. Schiano accepts the Michigan job on a Friday night calls his team up and explains to them they need to be at a team meeting the next morning to discuss him leaving. He sleeps on it, and the next morning cancels the meeting and tells Martin he has decided to stay Rutgers.
Side not----Terrible mistake on his part, because he thought he was going to be first in line to get the PSU job, not the case anymore.
Martin moved quickly, went to his second selection and chooses Rich Rod.
Rich Rod walked into a situation where the alumni, boosters, and committee were already angry because Martin decided not to include them in hiring process.
Rich Rod, or anyone aside from Miles, walked into a train wreck that was set off by none other than Bill Martin and Lloyd Carr himself.
Take this for what it is worth, but I trust in what I was told.
Hope this helps.
