Cincinnati/Xavier Game Ends In Brawl

Post by Burg_Grad_77 »

Game was stopped with 9.4 seconds left after a bench clearing brawl. I'm sure lots of players will get major suspension and Gates should be kicked off the team for his action. Throwing a sucker punch that split open the face of a player. He should be gone. No place for that in college sports.

gates should be banned from playing another collegiate game..what a coward....sucker punching punk..and all those others who threw punches, give them a minimum 10 games.. i noticed that skinny punk on cincys bench trying to get a fight started at the end of the half, then also throwing punches when the bench emptied.. ban him also

What an embarrassment for the University! Clean house and toss everyone off the team that threw punches. To heck with the remainder of the season!!

Not taking up for UC at all but, it takes two fight. I expect Gates will be suspended for several games. Player interviews says a lot about the X also.

If you've ever watched Xavier play, they do a whole lot of talking smack. I'm sure the comments from some of the UC players prior to the game only increased the talking. Lyons and Holloway are the worst. Kick Gates and the bench player from X and UC who threw punches off their teams, suspend the rest who were involved. Gotta clean up the thug image popular in all college and pro sports.

All I could think of when watching the scrum was a game a long time ago now in Minneapolis. What Minnesota did to Luke Witte was worse than this. I'm no soapbox guy on morals but there is no place for this kind of stuff in any athletics. Worst offenders should be kicked off their teams and the teams should forfeit their next five games.

This game of rivals is getting very heated. It is a game where the home fans really get into the game and the players talk. The trash talk goes on the court and off. If this happens again this game should be taken off the schedule. But both teams need to cut back on the trash talk. This is a basketball game where these players are getting a free education to play basketball. Not to run their mouths. All players should be warned and educated by each coaching staffs. Not just this year but for years to come. If you do this you lose your scholarship. This is your only and final warning.

JHS08, my point is, is the smack talk necessary? I was taught you win with class, and you lose with class. Too many times, players forget this. protecting your manhood after you've been called out? Kick their a$$ on the court by being a better player/team, not running your mouth and showing how much s$$t you can stir. None of the suspensions were long enough, especially Lyons and Holloway.

How does the NCAA not step in and hand out some suspensions theirselves. Gates, IMO should be done for the season. He clearly suckered punched Frease, when it was clear Frease was just trying to get his players out of there.

Both schools look like complete fools for the penalties they handed down. In their eyes, it's all about wins and losses not morals and life lessons.

Ghetto mentalty has had a firm grip on the Cincy area for a long time. Huggins started it back in the early 90's and it has embraced the X campus the last few years.

When I was a kid growing up if my brother and I wanted to fight my dad would put the boxing gloves on us and made us fight. Maybe thats what they need to do with these two teams, I bet half these players wouldn't want to fight and would think twice about running their mouth.

this has always been a heated rivalry, and also one of the games i enjoy watching but this was ridiculous, gates should be done for the year, mick cronin said the right words but lets see if he acts on what he said he would do. Tu Holloway and Mark lyons press conference after the game was probably the most ignorant things they could say. and if Holloway is gonna let a player bother him by saying he wouldn't start on their team he has another thing coming when he heads to the NBA. Im sure they say worse things than that. KG would make him cry with the trash talking he does and comments he makes
