No disrespect but he has won 3 games he should have lost, but that is why he is a great. That 2001 game where OSU jumped out to a 20-0 lead I believe, they had to hold on to dear life to win that one 26-20 if memory serves correct. In 2002 Michigan physically beat OSU down for 3 quarters untill one Maurice Clarret bust a big run to win that one. Despite only scoring 9 points Michigan was in control for a majority of the game. In 2005 Michigan lead by 11 or 12 going into the 4th, and it took a miracle catch by Gonzo to win this one.
Side not: I think Tress sold his soul to beat UM in 2004. They beat UM down and had no business talent wise being on the same field with that team.

I am yet to see a team win a game they should have lost at any level. That is why they KEEP SCORE!
GO BUCKS!

Just for arguments sake...
2001: OSU's starting QB was suspended and it was Krenzel's first start. Two weeks before he was the 3rd string QB. Think about starting your 3rd string QB in The Game. Also, Shane Olivea and Jonathon Wells only played in the first half. Wells ran for 120+ (maybe 140?) in the 1st half but was injured. He was replaced by Lydell Ross. Yes, that Lydell Ross. Ugh. OSU's offense was snuffed with Wells out.
2002: That was the story of the season. Also, OSU's 2nd TD was set up by a long pass to MoC and it was a play that OSU had been sitting on all season. They broke it out when they had the good field position and got UM in the defense they wanted. It was a huge play on a broken tendency. Also, that defense always gave up yards but gave up very little points. So yes, UM moved the ball but as usual against that D, they couldn't punch anything in. They also scored all 9 in the first half.
2004: OSU was hot at the end of that season. They started 3-3 and finished 8-4. What did UM finish? 9-3? I think so. Also, Troy Smith was unleashed and Ginn and Gonzo were coming into their own.
2005: The pass to Gonzo was possibly not even necessary. OSU only needed a FG to win and they were already within distance. Also, they would have had other plays after the Gonzo pass, had it been incomplete, and up to that point, OSU had basically driven the ball down the field unmolested. Not to mention that OSU's All-American LB and best pass rusher broke his leg on the first play. The D played the rest of the game with a poor pass rush.
2007: I would count this one as a blowout. UM had 89 yards of offense. OSU took a knee inside UM's five yardline to end the game. 21-3 anyone? Maybe if OSU had been playing Northwestern they would've punched it in.

I will say this about the 2004 game. Every single Michigan offensive skill player in that starting lineup is now in the NFL. Heene, Braylon, Avant, Hart, Breaston, and Ecker may have been the most talented offensive skilled group that Lloyd Carr ever coached. Michigan lost a single game at home going into the OSU game, to an average ND team, do impart to Heene being a freshman, and Hart not even starting at this point. Yes Michigan went 9-3, but also lost to VY with no time left on the clock in the Rose Bowl.
With all due respect to OSU, who had a lot of young talent, they were not close in terms of talent that season, but that is why they play the game.
I think a beat down is what Texas Tech suffered at the hands of Oklahoma----13-9, 26-20, 41-39, 14-3, is not a beat down.

From the words of Gary Mollar, the past coach at Michigan. Do we even consider Michigan a rival now? Maybe they should move Penn State to the last game.

Like I said, that 14-3 is deceiving. OSU kneed it inside the five. 21-3 in bad weather, when the opponent has 89 yards of offense, is a beat down.
The others were pretty close games.
Also, Henne and Hart were freshmen in 2004 so they were young like Ginn and Gonzo. Also, is Henne really starting? Did they make that change this week? What happened to Pennington?
OSU that season had Smith at QB (backup in the NFL b/c of size), Holmes, Ginn, and Gonzo.
That is a Heisman Trophy and 3 NFL 1st rounders.
v.
Michigan's 1st rounder.
OSU was a BCS-type team that year by the time November rolled around.

The chant all Buckeyes grew to hate, and Michigan fans loved to yell:
Cooper Era Buckeyes
2-10-1
Tressel Era:
7-1
Rich Rod will have a better team next year, but still a team searching for an identity and
still very young.
The Buckeyes will be favored going into next years tilt in Ann Arbor, looking to make it 8-1.
Pryor will be at his best the following year, the game will be at home, and #2 will be looking to clinch
Heisman votes. How about 9-1.
I know it is hard to call the games this far ahead, but I would be willing to lay down cash on the
2011 game in Ann Arbor being played with the thought of Michigan going 1-10-0 against Tressel and the Buckeyes.
