Tommy Tubberville Out At Auburn

ESPN is reporting that Tommy Tubberville will not be back as coach at Auburn next year. Tubbs had brought the Tiger program back to respectability that was enjoyed by the late Ralph "Shug" Jordan. He also owned the Iron Bowl against my beloved Tide and had the highest winning percentage of any coach in the classic.

I am thinking that Mike Leach from Texas Tech would be a better fit at Auburn than the University of Washington.

Leach would be able to recruit the type of athletes needed to run his spread offense at Auburn better than Washington. I agree with that statement 100%. TT may offer him a deal too good to pass up now that he is the hottest ticket since sliced bread.

However, Leach would find the winning easier in Washington in 2-3 years, than in Auburn. Outside of USC, the PAC 10 is wide open. 3 good years of patience and Leech will win in Washington. It's aso alot nicer to live in Pullman, than in Auburn.

With the SEC split into 2 divisions and the athletes needed to run his offense so close by, Leach would win sooner at Auburn then with the Huskies.
Now, if he REALLY wanted to be competitive in the PAC 10, he needs to go to UCLA. Much easier to get the athletes to come to LA than to Pullman.
Boy those were great games over the years...UCLA vs USC.

With Leach withdrawing his name from U of W, Auburn chances are improving.

Leach should try and get more cash from Texas Tech.
His system won't work as well in the SEC, where schools
actually play defense.

Here's a thought: Why even bother with the spread? Doesn't anyone remember Auburn's perfect season in 03 with Cadillac Williams and Ronnie Brown? It's not always about your offensive strategy as much as it is execution.
Auburn's defensive front is always one of the best in the game, bar-none. If they could just put SOME points on the board, their defense has proven it is capable of shutting teams down.

Auburn made a mistake getting rid of Tuberville, even though Tuberville made some mistakes of his own, espicially picking his staff, but after all the success he deciding not to commit with him was a bad idea. I hope Leach goes to the Sec. Talk about big name coaches: Meyer, Saban, Miles, Leach, that would be very interesting

Rodriguez should have waited one more year. He could have went to Auburn, where his questionable character would not have mattered. If I were Michigan, I would offer Rodriguez to Auburn.
