Those Kentucky faithful who say that Tubby only won with Pitinos players, have a little crow to eat.

No excuses. The better coach won :!:

He is way to much of a class act to admit it, but this has to be a very satisfying win for Tubby Smith. There has never been a doubt in my mind who the better coach has been. Pitino is better in the "living room" than Smith, for alot of reasons i wont go into on here. however, Smith is a premiere on court coach.
Also, Tubby does it the right way, which is also very good to see.

Amen Corner, I can't fault the Smith naysayers though. If Smith would have had Pitino's players that night, Louisville would have won by 20. they would also probably win a national title this year. However, we know that aint happening.

Way to go Tubster!!

as opposed to losing to VMI and Gardner Webb, like his successor has. Sorry Hammerdown, your "boy" went down. he went down to an inferior talent team but a much better coached team. This doesnt suprise me. Even you have admitted that Tubby does better with Pitino's talent that he does. This time he did better with inferior talent!
10-0 baby. Sweet win.

He is a "Legend" to the Kentucky faithful, so why only One?

Tubby is a lowly coach and he has One.

Tubby took Minnesota, let me say it again Minnesota and beat The "Legend"....

Kentucky can have the "Pretty" Little man....

I'll take the winner Tubby 8)

Pitino is a better coach IMO. Right now I would rather have Tubby than Pitino. Tubby is a great coach, and great for the game of basketball and the UK program. Don't get me wrong because Pitino is too, but he has been out of UK for years. I would have never fired Tubby in the first place. He had great success at UK and took them to the Elite 8, Sweet 16, etc. multiple times. I don't think it is totally his fault that they couldn't get to the big game. He can only do so much on the sideline. He can tell the players what to do, how to do it, and everything else, but that doesn't mean the players are going to do it. Go back to the Michigan State game when Sparks hit the triple to take them into OT. In the 1st OT I believe Kentucky was up by 1 or 2 when Azubuike fouled one of States players with a few seconds left in OT. Tubby can't control that. UK should have been on their way. Just an example.

again, Tubby won a title with Pitino's players. Something Pitino could not do the year before, with even more talent. What is Pitino's record vs Tubby all time?
