Second half run propels Rio to road win at Alice Lloyd
Pippa Passes, KY---The University of Rio Grande RedStorm men's basketball team, ranked No. 5 in the most recent NAIA Division II Top 25 Rating, snapped a two-game losing skid with a 96-90 win at Alice Lloyd College on Monday evening. A 20-8 run to start the second half spurred Rio Grande to the victory.

Rio Grande (12-3) placed four players in double figures, led by P.J. Rase (Wheelersburg, OH) with 22 points. Rase lit it up from three-point land, nailing 6-of-8 attempts for the game.

Senior guard Brett Beucler (Sardinia, OH) added 15 points while senior Brandon Ivery (Columbus, OH) delivered another double-double with 10 points and 13 rebounds. Sophomore guard Doug Campbell (Sailsbury, NC) chipped in 10 points.

Senior point guard Aaron Drakeford (Columbus, OH) was on the verge of double figures, scoring nine points and senior center Will Norwell (Cincinnati, OH) eclipsed the 1,000- point mark for his career with seven points. He left the game in the second half with an injury, the seriousness is not yet known.

Rio trailed 40-39 at the half.

Rio will be back in action at Union College on Wednesday (December 31) at 2 p.m. Stretch Internet will have play-by-play coverage beginning at 1:30 p.m.

Congrats to PJ and the RedStorm on their victory. PJ and Brett are two of the best three point shooters from our area.

Congrats to P.J. & RIO....great to see good kids making an impact @ the collegiate level!!

Kyle is starting on the JV's at Rio, and doing well.. He played a couple of minutes with the varsity in last night's game.. Thanks for asking..

Today will be tough for him, as well as the entire team.. Corey Taylor's, (who was Kyle's roommate) funeral is today... I talked to P.J. and Kyle..
They are affected by the loss of Corey.

I also try to keep up with Brigham and all the young men who are making an impact at the College level.... Most of their AAU team are doing so.... :-D
