OSU Men's Basketball Thread

Instead of having a thread for each game and littering the page with countless one topic threads, how about we try and keep the talk of the Buckeyes Men's team on this one.

Next big test is Nov. 29 at the Schott vs Duke.

Thought they play strong last night. Took awhile to get started.
There for a little while I had flashes of the Bucks allowing them back in the game.

I agree. I thought they played very well at times and marginal at other times. Obviously, it's early, but they've got to get better at keeping their foot on the gas and put good teams away. Their were several mental mistakes; i.e. fouls allowing shots/points with the clock stopped, and quick jumpers early in the shot clock (Buford) in the final 90 seconds of this game. One foul was a freshman mistake (at least appeared to be), and the shot, while being part of Buford's game and somewhat understandable is inexcusable from my standpoint given that he is the ONLY senior on this team and has well over 100 college games under his belt on some outstanding teams. He knows better than that.

All in all...I'd give them a well above passing grade. Minus the early defecit, they handled a good (will be very good) Florida team throughout the ball game and did what they had to do to win...especially on a night where your All-American potential College Player of the Year only gets 16 and 6. Not bad at all!!

I would think that the game Sullinger played would have to worry alot of other teams. He only scored 16 points woth 6 boards and they still beat a good Florida team by double-digits. If he had been on, it would have been ugly.

Have to agree with Buford. He will need to make better decisions then what he did at the end of the game. He needs to remember, a lot of Buckeye fans are still pissed at him for the egg he laid against Kentucky. If he hits half of his shots in that game, OSU wins going away and then for him to take the last shot and throw up a brick.

Thomas played strong and Craft gave his usual yeoman performance. Is it me or does it look like Craft grew an inch or two?

Looking forward to following the Bucks this year and hopefully another long tourney run. They have the tools to go far, they just need to put them all together.

yabba,

I think you might be right about Craft. At least he looks that way. It might just be because he plays so much bigger than he is and he's tough as nails. He's such a throw-back point guard and I absolutely love watching him play!!!!

I went to the game Friday night and sat courtside. Craft was standing next to me during early warmups and I would say he is @ 6'2". He actually looks small compared to most of the team but he towered over one of the guards for JS that he was guarding but that was the only kid on the floor he had any size on. Sully looked thin---much thinner than on TV but still a VERY big boy. Watching Craft up close he does so many little things that isn't picked up on TV. That kid is 100% nonstop hustle. Bucks are young but have a lot of depth this year. The loss of Deibler as our outside threat worries me. I watched them shoot around for about an hour and NO ONE was exactly lighting it up behind the arc.

Sully lost weight this summer in order to play more of a 4 role.
He kept his big butt! Lol

Win last night against North Florida.

A slow start, but Matta made adjustments, got the team focused.

Sully went for 27 points, 13 boards, and 3 steals.

DeSean Thomas had 16 points and Bufford had 13.

The Defense forced 23 turnovers.

Next game, Wednesday night against VMI.

I really like watching Smith Jr play. He seems to keep getting better. He and Craft are a nightmare for other teams defensively. He also threw down a couple big dunks.
