WVU to switch conferences?
WVU to switch conferences?
If WVU does this, I think it will be really hard for them to make it to a BCS bowl game in this conference. I got to give them credit for not being afraid to step up and go to a better conference knowing it would be easier to win in the Big East.
Re: WVU to switch conferences?
God bless 'em. The Big Least is a dead mule. I wish them all the luck in the world.

AP Source: Big 12 approves WVU to replace Missouri

The Big 12 has approved bringing in West Virginia to replace Missouri when the Tigers complete their move to the Southeastern Conference, a person with knowledge of the decision told The Associated Press on Tuesday.

I think they can hang in the Big-12. They beat a heavily favord Oklahoma in a BCS game a few years ago and they play defense like the rest of the conference, THEY DON'T. Anyway, Holgerson would be back in his old haunts from his Oklahoma St. days as offensive coordinator. The basketball, football and baseball together already rivals the SEC in all sports.

Now we are down to musical chairs. Need to have a seat when the music stops.

Re: WVU to switch conferences?
I'd say the Big 12 will try to get back to that number to qualify for a football championship game again and hold there. C-USA and WAC may combine but there is nothing there of real value. The key will be Notre Dame. Will they remain independent in football? They may eventually get squeezed and have to take a flier on a major conference. When that happens, it's four 16-team mega-conferences.

I'll believe it when I hear it from WVU administration and Big XII officials at press conferences. Until then it's only rumors.

WVU will be a middle of the pack team in the Big 12. It's one thing to beat a team after a months worth or preparation, its another to lineup and do it every week.

i would love to see wvu, and notre dame in the big 10 and stop expansion there at 14 teams. that would make an already great conference even better. and they truley are geographically located for the conference.and have the facilitiesto hold true big ten crowds more importantly.

Re: WVU to switch conferences?
I think WVU would compete just fine in the Big XII.
Better than ISU, KU and Baylor. MOST years as good as or better than KSU, OSU, TT and TCU. Will have their years of competing with and beating OU and UT (just like Miami in the Big East).

4th or 5th nearly all the time, not ever much better.
If they split Texas and OU, they'll not see a title game.

I'm not baiting, that the position they'll be in in the Big12.
Whether that's good or bad, depends on your perspective and expectations.

Much like OSU now that they have divisions and a year ending true conference champion. Gone are the days of co-titles of which there were many for a lot of Big-10 schools but you could always say that you were the conference champion. Did they give a trophy to each (sometimes 3 schools) each year they ended up with the same records ? There will be no more 6 or 7 consecutive shared or lone titles in a row. With the set-up now if you finish 2nd or 3rd in your division who's going to say who the 3rd or 4th best team in the league truely is, for that matter who would care other than the second and third tier bowl game committees. That's what these conference championships bring to the table.

More to the point, kiss your shot at a BCS game goodbye for the foreseeable future!
