Have the bobcats turned the corner in re-establishing themselves as MAC contenders?They have won all their duals so far although the competition has been less than stellar. But they finished 4th out of 25 teams and ahead of several ranked teams at the Reno tournament with five individual placers. Currently they are in 6th place out of 32 teams at the Southern Scuffle in North Carolina. They are ahead of teams like Michigan and Kent State while behind only Cornell, Minnesota, Indiana, Edinboro and Virginia. As I checked updates at noon they have 3 wrestlers in the semi finals and 2 still alive in consos. Looks very encouraging to me.

The Cats finished 6th out of 32 in the team standings in Greensboro. They finished ahead of #19 Kent State and #23 Old Dominion while trailing, in order, only #8 Cornell, #5 Minnesota, #13 Indiana, #20 Edinboro and #18 Virginia. They had five placers including a 2nd, a 4th, two at 6th and a 7th.

Earlier at Reno they had 5 place winners while finishing ahead of #9 Boise State, #16 Cal Poly and tying #15 Arizona State. In the 25 team field OU trailed only #4 Oklahoma State, Edinboro and #14 Penn State in the standings. Looks like Joel and his staff have the team on track to make a little noise in the MAC this season. See link below.
