SSU Baseball's Adam Wamsley...

throws a 10 inning no-no and nearly hits for the cycle against University of Cumberlands, KY...

Wamsley was 3 of 5 against U of Cumberland on February 19th missing hitting for the cycle by only a single. Wamsley doubled, tripled and homered in the game driving in 2 runs while scoring 3 times in the Bears 6-5 win over the Patriots.

According to SSU website, Wamsley also threw 10 innings of no hit baseball in the Bears come from behind 4-3 win over Rio Grande on March, 2nd.

Peanut has rubber in his arm. The kid can throw all day long. Nice job peanut!

That could come real handy in college. :-D

Great to hear Adam is doing well though it doesn't surprise me. Always knew he'd be a good one since the first time I saw him play when he was around 10 or 11 years old.

He actually did hit for the cycle. They finished the game the next day and he got the hit he needed then.

Adam hit a grandslam in the bottom of the 8th inning with 2 outs to give SSU Bears the 19-15 win against Point Park on Saturday. He also got the win as he pitched the final 2 2/3 innings allowing one run on 2 hits, while striking out 3 batters.

He went 3 for 5 in the game, hitting 2 homeruns, tallying 8 RBI's and scoring 3 runs for the Bears.

Adam was named AMC player of the week. He hit .556 in leading SSU to a 4-1 week with all 4 wins coming in conference play. He hit in all 5 games with 10 hits in 18 @ bats. He had 3 dbls, 3 homers, 10 RBI's and 10 runs scored while posting a 1.222 slugging percentage.

SSU Bears won the AMC conference. Adam won a Gold Glove award and 1st team AMC with 4 of his teammates: Phil Butler, Brian Ramey of Franklin Furnace, Austin Dunfee and Danny Gesick which was also named AMC POY. Coach Ted Tom was named AMC COY.
SSU also had 2 players named 2nd team and 3 for HM.

SSU also had Andrew Carter and Nick Ball named to the 2nd team and Quentin Everman, Ricky Masson, and Jordan Maier earned Honorable mention. SSU seems to be getting better year by year. It seems like there was some pretty good baseball being played in southern Ohio this year.
