2011 CFB Early Thoughts

Post by seofan_via_dublin »

Well the 2010 season is in the books, and by Jan. 15, we'll know who is leaving early for the NFL.

Congrats to Auburn on the National Title.

Now it's time to look ahead and give our very early projections on the 2011 season. Tell us what you think, I'll dig this thread up before the season and this time next year, to see how close we came.

Depending on who Stanford gets as a coach I'm picking them to win it. Playing the Sooners depending on who they have coming back.

Those are very good points 4ever.

I thought numerous times during the bowl season and season's of past that bowl matchups could be considered a whole lot more on paper matchups than the system they currently use, whatever that may be. "If" the BCS rankings mean anything than why not use them more to match teams against teams to create better games. Throw out the aq system all together and also either throw out old ties to certain bowls or create loopholes to allow different matchups if the pre-determined matchups don't appear good. Sure blowouts will still exist but at least then we can blame the rankings system or it will be exposed. Sometimes the bowls end up getting lucky. Common sense needs to be factored in somewhare.

Take Iowa/Mizzou this year, Mizzou was ranked #12 and coming of a very good year. Iowa was coming off of a disappointing season and some very poor showings and entered the game unranked. Of course Iowa won the game and made the bowl committee look like geniuses but that game could have been ugly if the ranking were accurate. Another example would be obvious, Okl/UConn................or last year Iowa/GT. Those 2 were never good matchups on the field or on paper. I guess my point is, if we look forward to the bowl games all year or the NCAA wants us to look forward to them all year then we need some better matchups in these games.

Why not put Boise in a bowl against a real program this year, even if not a true elite at least a team from an elite conference that was successful during the season.

Oklahoma has 14 guys coming back with starting experience on the Offense, and 15 on the defense.
They're going to be pretty darn good.

The Sooners are loaded with returning players for next year. I would also like to add LSU, since Les "The Mad Hatter" Miles is returning and Texas A & M to my original list.

With the guys LSU has coming back, as long as The Booger Eater doesn't have a brain fart, they may be in the national title game!

thats one crazy mind the mad hatter has. he could actually take his guys to the locker room, out of timeouts, at the end of the 3rd quater , thinking the game was over.
