Been with family all weekend. Quick and simple thoughts this week. Posted at 10:41pm.
1. Day cannot win the rivalry game. Ohio States Performance STUNK. Truly disappointed.
2. The SEC is a Mess. They are not the elite conference as they were in the past. Pac12 days of Old.
3. ACC championship between SMU and Clemson even after Clemson loses to South Carolina.
4. Traffic Jam in the BIG XII still being ironed out. Should be an interesting match-up whoever steps forward.
5. B1G.. Penn State vs Oregon? It'd Oregons to lose. Penn state has had WAY too many close calls to inferior teams.

Besides our vested emotional interest in Ohio State, it was a great day of college football. Instead of the rich getting richer, NIL and the free agency of the transfer portal has produced chaotic parity.

The conservative play calling cost OSU the game. Defense played GREAT but they were put in too many bad positions.
The conservative play calling might have also cost Day his job. I think anything short of playing in the NATTY, he is gone. If they make it to the title game there will be enough money picked up along the way by the university to justify keeping him one more year.
Chip Kelly must go. Its almost like they would have rather proved they could run the ball at ttun's all american DTs (who are REALLY good) behind their patchworked O line than throw the ball down field where they were wrecking ttun's defense.
Three things happened with they targeted Jeremiah Smith- TD, Completed Pass or Pass Interference. Yet they didnt throw to him once the entire 2nd half.
This is the type of game that costs OSU not only recruits, but someone like Jeremiah Smith could hit the portal. I feel bad for the seniors who came back to have their HC and OC crap down their legs.

Insanity is doing the same thing over and over but expecting different results. I like Ryan Day the man, but if the expectations of beating Michigan, winning the Big 10 and national champions are the standards of which an Ohio State coach is judged, Day has to go. You simply cannot win big games with the "soft" philosophy of finesse alone. Controlling both lines of scrimmage and being able to run the ball have to complement your 5 star skilled talent.
That said, if (when?) the change is made, Buckeye fans will likely have to wander in the wilderness for a while while the program is gutted, the existing roster moves on, and the new coach rebuilds. I do not see any coaching candidate on the horizon that can provide an instant turn around like Meyer in 2012.

I still can't believe that offense was so lackluster after being good all year and demolishing a good Indiana team the week before. Did they celebrate a little too much after that game? Man, it is a head scratcher for sure! I don't see Day firing Kelly knowing their background with each other. Day will go down with the ship first.
On a brighter note, how about Kyle Meh Cord? Ends up as one of the top QBS in college football and finishes with a huge win over the number 6 team in the country. So happy for him after the beating he took in Columbus.
Does anyone know why they chose PSU over Indiana for the BIG Championship? They both had the same record losing to the same team.

In case of a tie, the head to head is the first tie breaker. Since PSU and Indiana didnt play each other this year, the second tie breaker is the higher ranked team. Which is PSUcbolt wrote: Mon Dec 02, 2024 4:25 pm I still can't believe that offense was so lackluster after being good all year and demolishing a good Indiana team the week before. Day may not be able to win The Game.
Also, if a kicker makes two easy kicks. The headlines are how OSU wins a gritty game over hated rival and Day gets the michigan monkey off his back.
