Valenths thoughts from Week 15.

Post by Valenth »

What an incredible week of football to go over! Posting this at the WEE Hours of Sunday Morning. (

First off.,. A HUGE Congrats to the Ironton Fighting Tigers on their STATE CHAMPIONSHIP! (And Terry getting #3 on the ESPN Sportscenter Top 10!)

1. the SEC Championship Game went to Overtime in a great battle.

there were injuries and this game started off slow. However the Georgia Backup QB took some Massive Hits to get the Dawgs into position to take the crown.

One Note: I do think there was a LOT of Missed calls of Holding on Georgia. Sort of felt like watching a Kansas City Chiefs game.

2. Oregon proves to be #1 in an Offensive Barrage.

Penn State came fighting back each time... However the Ducks were just too much for the Nittany Lions.

3. The Biggest Conundrum Champion in College Football. Arizona State!

Picked to be LAST in the preseason conference polls. The Sun Devils Started a Surprising 5-2 and then Ran the Table right into to the Conference Championship.

And the Sun Devils chose to flat out DESTROY Iowa State. Proving that Preseasons Polls mean ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.

4. Clemson came to take away dreams... AND A PLAYOFF SPOT.

The way this game started I felt like Clemson was about to take SMU to the Woodshed. But man did the Mustangs fight back and never laid Down! This was a great game ending on a 52 Yard FG. and I believe with this win by Clemson. That the Crimson Tide of Alabama will be knocked out of the College Football Playoff! Both of these teams deserve to be in the Playoffs!

5. Bittersweet since 1968.

The Ohio Bobcats have fallen short so many times for MAC Championship hardware... However this year they left NO QUESTIONS unanswered. Miami of Ohio had ABSOLUTELY NO ANSWER for what the Bobcats dished out. Funny thing is... Miami defeated Ohio in the Regular Season. Now that is what you call MAKING ADJUSTMENTS!

6. Making History for the Herd!

The Thundering Herd of Marshall just came out Hungry and Played LIGHTS OUT in this game! (Sadly the QB for Louisiana was injured early. Hoping that gentleman is ok!)

And With that Marshall MADE HISTORY!
*The first College Team in History to win 3 Different Conference Championships!
*The first ROAD Team to win the Sun Belt Championship (Which to me seems INSANE to believe.

I am going to leave the Strategy of the Playoff Bracket to the Experts. However I think the Team who will be Left out after all of the events that occurred... Will be Alabama. Clemson will be giving the Crimson Tide the Boot!

Thoughts? Let me Know!

The CCGs were a fitting end to the 2024 regular season. Who had Arizona St, Boise St, Indiana, or SMU on their playoff parlay cards back in August? Who had the Buckeyes facing a three loss season with what some thought to be the best roster in the nation?

And Valenth is correct to acknowledge Ohio U and Marshall. Local programs that deserve more of our support.

They have been talking all morning about Bama getting in the playoff. But of course it's ESPN, who owns the SEC network. So of course they are pushing hard for Bama.
3 losses is 3 losses. And SMU might get penalized for playing in their conference championship.

We shall see but I think Bama should be on the outside looking in!

Bama is out. SMU in. No real surprises unless you consider Penn St at 6 and ND at 7th.

State gets the Vols at home. A winnable game for the Buckeyes if Day can reclaim and motivate the locker room plus calling the game to his teams strength.
