On CFB Live his lawyer made the statement that student-athletes are basically slaves.
Lets break this down.
Athletes receive a free college education from a 4 year public or private school.
Total cost for out of state player on average at public is $15,000 while private costs are around $23,000 per year.
So.....that is 60,000 dollars the University invests in one student athlete at a public school and that is if they don't redshirt and get a 5th year.
private-$92,000 for 4 years.
That settles that right off the bat. These schools are investing a lot of money in providing these athletes with a free education.
Student-athletes also receive book stipends that cover all of their book costs. That on average is around 300-500 per semester.
Student athletes receive room and board for two years and then receive a stipend for their apartments.
Athletes receive 3 square meals a day, not including meals on the road and often stay at the better hotels while on the road.
They receive free health care for any injury sustained.
Add all of this up and you can see the investment made in just a single athlete.

I did the math on all school sponsored money for the OSU players earlier in the year.
In Pryor's case, as an out of state enrolle, over 4 years he would have received over $140,000 in benefits directly from the university.

You got it at your fingertips and don't know how to use it. Yep, just another Maurice Clarrett if you ask me.

I agree. But I never thought anyone could be as stupid as Clarrett, but Pryor can't even read hooked on phonic's. Sounds like his lawyer is on his level.FANOSPORTS wrote:You got it at your fingertips and don't know how to use it. Yep, just another Maurice Clarrett if you ask me.
