Urban's Destiny at OSU
Urban's Destiny at OSU
How will the Buckeyes fare during Urban's first five years?
Is OSU at the threshold of a true Golden Era, destined to dominate the national and BIG scene?
Will OSU regain competative dominence in the BIG, but fall short on achieving national
prominence?
Will OSU just become competitive? Fallout from the NCAA problems and all that it might
entail.
All opinions and insight is welcome. I believe Myer was the best hire available, just not
sure what his destiny will be at OSU.

6 year contract.
In B10 title game 4-5 years.
In National title game 1-2 years.
In BCS bowl 5-6 years.
I don't think this is outside of realm of expectations.
Considering it is the established precedent that he'll be judged by.
OSU was already in "Golden Era".

Agre....I think people are forgtting that cupboard is not bare, nor has it been for many, many years.........This is a unique experience for Urban, coming into not having to completely turn things around............There is a core that he will only make better............ :12224

The Buckeyes were in every game this year and could have been 11-1 (Miami game was bad). They lost to Mich.State 10-7 (whom was in Big 10 Championship game) and beat Wisconsin (Big Ten Champion). If not for a total meltdown they beat Nebraska. Penn State, Michigan, and Purdue were all very winnable games. With all the turmoil, suspended players, late season injuries, the Buckeyes didnt do bad. The cupboard is far from bare and we'll see some great recruits coming in. The Buckeyes will be right there playing for Big Ten Championships and competing for BCS bowls or National Championships. Miller is going to be special the next couple years.

Totally agree. They should have won the Nebraska, Purdue and Michigan game. They just got outplayed by Michigan St.
The good thing is most of the starters for the Bucks are back next year and with Meyer starting to get some top players to change there minds and come to OSU, the Bucks could be real dangerous next year. They say Meyer is a ferocious recruiter and I think that is already evident as he has swayed a couple of players towards the Bucks that were not even on there radar.
Re: Urban's Destiny at OSU
they better get better at the wide receiver position and at linebacker and the offensive line.

You know what. I'm going to disagree with you on the WR piece. How can you judge that the WR's are the problem when OSU only threw 220 passes the entire season? When Bauserman was throwing balls 10 rows up in the stands? And Miller was misfiring way too much? I don't buy it. Hard to say that the WR's are the problem when you had Bollman running the offense into the ground, and two QB's that were struggling, to be kind.91blue14 wrote:they better get better at the wide receiver position and at linebacker and the offensive line.
Here's an example. Evan Spencer plays in three games, makes three catches, and two of the three catches are the most memorable of the season. Why does the kid only play in 3 games?
Next year is going to be completely different. We will see what kind of WR talent we have when Urban implements what he wants on offense. It won't look anything like the garbage that we had to watch this season.

Won't be able to change too many minds because they don't have that many left

Re: Urban's Destiny at OSU
Florida 2004 (the year before Urban took over) was more talented and young than Ohio State 2011. He has a less talented team, but a much easier road to success. So I guess that balances it out.
Expect 9-3 next year. Then after that 10-2 or 11-1.

Re: Urban's Destiny at OSU
I think Coach Meyer will win at least 3 Big Ten championships, play in at least 4-5 BCS bowls, winning 3-4 of them, and best of all.......win a national championship.
I think that his impact will be clearly seen next year, as I see the Buckeyes possibly winning the Leaders Division and playing Michigan for the Big 10 title.

I think OSU could realisticly win at least one national championship under Myer. 2 national titles in 5 years might be asking for too much, but it could happen. I'll be happy with 1 national championship. I won't be too greedy! ;)

You better hope the ND job dosen't open up because he might leave for it someday.Yes,Kelly said it was his dream job, but that wont prevent him from being fired if things dont work out.
