Minford 7th and 8th grade boys
Re: Minford 7th and 8th grade boys
Who are the candidates?? Are there any? I feel like it would be wise to have coaches in place when it is time for open gym to start.

I think Kyle Pertuset(sp?) would be a good choice, that 8th grade class coming up is extremely talented, and could use another coach in there that is already familiar with the kids.

Yeah, i seem him coach at a Peewee tournament coach last year, and I walked away impressed at the way his team was executing offensive sets.

Re: Minford 7th and 8th grade boys
He was the 5th and 6th grade boys rep, and 5th grade all star coach, and this year coached a group of 6th graders. He also has 2 years of freshman AAU experience, and I think that he won a couple tournaments with that group if I'm not mistaken. He also was on the Minford Varsity staff for 2 years. I think the he would be a good fit there because he is good with kida obviously because he keeps getting coaching jobs for the younger players and he is also from the minford community so that should go well with some parents and administration over in falcon country ha

Kyle Pertuset would be a nice fit at the Junior High level. He has coached many of these kids for years and is big on fundamentals as well as playing the game with intesity. He is a Minford alum and would be a nice addition to the resurgence of Minford basketball.

I have never heard of this guy. Is he coaching a team now? Is he still on the Minford Varsity Staff? What AAU organization does he coach for and what is his record? Has he ever taken an AAU team to the nationals? I know several parents who have coached peewee basketball. In my opinion that doesn't qualify you for a Junior High coaching job. The previous coach will be hard to replace as far as experience, ability and his record. I don't know the man personally but what little I saw of his coaching he did an excellent job with the Minford 8th grade boys. The decision should not be based on "should go well with some parents" but be based on the persons experience, record and their ability to teach and lead these young people.

I sort of want to ask who peed in your cheerios AAU Scout? What difference does it make if he took an AAU team to the nationals? LOADED AND TALENTED teams go to the nationals, not necessarily good junior high coached teams. A good fit for 7th & 8th grade is a teaching coach, one who can instill the most fundamentals in those knotheads at this wonderful transition age. I really like our junior high coach at Clay. He may not have the best win/loss record, but you can see the passion he puts into working with every kid that comes through. He doesn't give up on any kid, and it will pay dividends for our high school teams in the future.
