Is Manchester having 7th and 8th grade boys or just 8th grade?

Manchester is just having 8th grade.

West Union 8th grade team is pretty strong.

Or I should say we will see. They scrimmage West and Clay on the same day on November 14th at Clay.

I wouldn't give ND the SOC 1 title so quick. I'm hearing some great things from the Rosemount Rebels! I just got off the phone with coach Compton, and they did double duty today. He says the Panthers are for real!

You're off on most of those, but you are VERY WRONG on this one. This will be the best Junior High team in the area.

If I had to rank 8th grade it would look something like this:

1. Ironton- only 8th graders
2. Symmes Valley- only 8th graders
3. Portsmouth- will probably dress some 7th
4. South Point- will dress some 7th with playing time
5. Oak Hill- will dress 7th with playing time
6. Rock Hill- will dress and play alot of 7th graders

I have South Point at 4 on my list, of course this is just a list but if they went head to head with teams 1-3. I would pick them to lose. I'm not putting your squad down I just think Ironton, Symmes Valley and Portsmouth are very solid teams with no help from the 7th grade players.

Did Ironton have receive some transfers? If not, they are not exactly loaded. They have one very good player and several pretty good players. This class has lost several players (due to transfers, etc.) that has prevented it from being "loaded". With good coaching and good effort, this team could win some games.

SP 8th grade will be very good. They have at least (3) 8th graders who were held back and should all be freshman.
RH 8th grade will be a little better. They have more out this year than last and will have more guards. I do not think the 7th graders will play with the 8th grade, though. 7th grade team will be tough. 8th grade team should be better. Good Luck to all.

I'm starting to think that flapjack has never seen any of these teams play, nor any junior high basketball games in general.

It takes an über special 7th grader to dress 8th grade, let alone play. I saw it happen once (with a SP player) all of last season. He is a very good player, but he barely played with the 8th grade squad. And trust me, there won't be any 7th graders playing for the SP 8th grade squad....nor will there be any other OVC 7th graders playing up.....it's simply too tough to do.

I'm not from the Point, but I know who they have coming back/moving in. VERY GOOD team.

While we are pointing fingers, how many are there from Rock Hill that should be freshmen? Some you might not even know about because thay moved in or you didn't know them in elementary school. Although I am not for holding a kid back in middle school for sports what's done is done. Some schools in the OVC have been holding kids back for years. They used to have a rule that you could only play two years in middle school to help curb this. I think this rule needs to be impemented again. I am sure that every team in every school will have a few that have been held back, especially when we are talking about boys.

one. Agree with everything else. 2 years of eligibility should be all you get. I know this is a bad subject, but first it keeps those who are true 8th graders from playing and that's sad. If it's educational purpose I'm all for it, so if you get 2 yrs eligibility it shouldn't matter whether you play or not, it would give you a year to work on your education.

you may be overlooking western's 7th grade boys team. watched them play against waverly in a scrimmage and they looked pretty tough. brewster is about 6', is a true 7th grader and is a pretty good rebounder. shanks could probably run point for western's jv team & take of himself. riggs and henderson are very good team players as well. lookin forward to watchin them play this year.

Did West Union get some transfers? I don't remember them being that strong last year.
