I am sorry I did not get back with you. I had so many calls over the last two days I lost your number off my phone. I am sorry I did not have any cancellations in the 5th grade. I hope to continue with the success with the tournament for next year. I appreciate your interest, and again sorry I could not get you in.

I apologize, but due to multiple last minute drop-outs, I am going to have to redo the entire tournament format for the 3rd and 4th Grades. Again, I apologize to those I have already called, as well as those who have already called their teams and made arrangments. I will have the new brackets posted as soon as possible and I promise I will still make this tournament as competitive and exciting as ever.

Due to several drop outs, including multiple today, we had to make some changes in the format as well as the scheduling. We ended up with only three 3rd Grade teams and six 4th Grade teams. I had a set up with seven 4th grade teams and three 3rd grade teams which was going to give us two five-team pools and a combined tournament, however, a fourth grade team dropped out at 8:58pm tonight, just as I was calling all the coaches and giving them their schedules. As a result, the Minford 4th Grade team will be playing in both pools (the Minford 3rd Grade may also play a game or two in the other pool as well).

Here is the adjusted schedule:

Monday:
5pm - Minford 3rd vs West 3rd
6pm - Piketon 4th vs Waverly 4th
7pm - Minford 3rd vs Northwest 4th
8pm - Waverly 4th vs Portsmouth 4th

Tuesday:
5pm - Valley 3rd vs West 3rd
6pm - Minford 4th vs Portsmouth 4th
7pm - Coal Grove 4th vs Waverly 4th
8pm - Minford 4th vs Northwest 4th

Wednesday:
5pm - Valley 3rd vs Minford 3rd
6pm - Minford 4th vs West 3rd
7pm - Coal Grove 4th vs Portsmouth 4th
8pm - Piketon 4th vs Minford 4th

Thursday:
5pm - Northwest 4th vs West 3rd
6pm - Coal Grove 4th vs Minford 4th
7pm - Portsmouth 4th vs Piketon 4th
8pm - Minford 4th vs Valley 3rd

Friday:
5pm - Minford 3rd vs Minford 4th
6pm - Valley 3rd vs Northwest 4th

The Pools are broken down by strength of team. The top five teams (prior to the final team that dropped out this evening) were placed in Pool A and the weaker five teams were placed in Pool B. Following Pool play, the teams will all be re-seeded 1-10 and placed in brackets accordingly. The original pools were:

Game 2 @ 11am - #7 seed vs #10 seed
Game 3 @ 12noon - #3 seed vs #6 seed
Game 4 @ 1pm - #4 seed vs #5 seed
Game 5 @ 2pm - #1 seed vs Game 1 winner
Game 6 @ 3pm - #2 seed vs Game 2 winner
Game 7 @ 4pm - (Semifinal 1) Game 5 winner vs Game 4 winner
Game 8 @ 5pm - (Semifinal 2) Game 6 winner vs Game 3 winner
Game 9 @ 6pm - (3rd Place) Game 7 loser vs Game 8 loser
Game 10 @ 7pm - (Championship) Game 7 winner vs Game 8 winner

There are multiple options available for filling what would have been Green's seed in the tournament. Either Minford 4th or Minford 3rd will play what would have been Green's opening round game in order to give the would-be opponent an opportunity to play a game. However, regardless of outcome, the team that is seeded opposite the Green would-be spot will automatically advance. Or, the game will be skipped with the opponent automatically advancing to the next round and all game times being moved up one spot from the point on in order to save time and keep the day from extending so late. We will make that decision as the week goes on.

Thanks to everyone for their patience and I apologize for all of the delays, which were beyond our control. We look forward to having a very competitive and exciting tournament and we believe we have created a very balanced week of basketball which will give all of these youngsters a chance to play a lot of basketball (at least five games apiece). We will be selling tournament T-shirts each day with all of the teams listed and encourage everyone involved with each respective team to purchase one as a keep-sake of your youngsters athletic endeavors.
