Lucasville Valley 2010 Biddy Basketball Tournament

Special Rules
All Players MUST play or live in the same school district

*3rd and 4th Grade- No defending in the back court (pressing) with exception of the last 2 minutes of the 2nd and 4th quarters and entire overtime periods. No defending in the backcourt once up 10 points or more.

*3rd and 4th Grade - Players shooting free throws must start behind the foul line, but may breached the foul line if the momentum of the players natural shot carries him across. The shooting player must not break to collect rebound until the ball touches the rim.

*3rd and 4th Grade - Due to the fact that the Valley Elementary Gym floor dose not have a three point arc, all made baskets from the floor will count as two point baskets. This will transfer to the awarding of foul shots. Games played in the later rounds of the 3rd and 4th grade tournament may be played on the Valley Intermediate Gym floor that does have a three point arc and shots made from the floor behind the arc will count as three point shots.

*(Water Only Please) No soft drinks or sports drinks are permitted in Valley Elementary Gym.

Yes we have room for 6th grade teams. Those that have said they will play are:

Valley 5th
Valley 6th
Portsmouth 6th
Eastern (Pike County) 6th
Ceredo Kenova (WV) 5th

3rd and 4th are to be split into two separate tournaments.

We are willing to split grade 5 & grade 6 tournament if we can obtain commitments from six teams for each grade.

Not sure of all the results but here is what I know...

Monday: Jackson 4th over Portsmouth 4th
Valley 4th over Minford 4th

Tuesday: Portsmouth 4th over Minford 4th
Jackson 4th over Valley 4th

Wednesday games are: Valley 4th vs Portsmouth 4th 6:00 PM
Jackson 4th vs Minford 4th 8:00 PM

Tourney starts Thursday as far as I know. As far as favorites...Looks like Jackson and Portsmouth are the two headed for the Championship in 4th grade level. With Jackson beating Portsmouth rather handily on Monday, they are probably the favorite.

Bobcat, holding kids back for sports has been going on for many years and will always go on in every school. Some parents do hold their kids back for other reasons sometimes other than sports.

just because a kid is born in 2000 does not make him 10 yet. The only kids that would be 10 are the ones born in Jan or Feb. Some kids are not mature enough to start school when they are supposed to; so the parents don't let them go to school. I have no connection with the Valley team. Just sounds like you are upset because you got beat. Like hornetman said It happens everywhere. There are no rules in biddy basketball about the ages of kids just what grade they are in.

BOBCAT 2010 YOU NEED TO GET YOUR INFO STRAIGHT BEFORE YOU MAKE A POSTING. FIRST OF ALL THE VALLEY PLAYERS WERE ALL OF THIRD GRADE AGE AND MET YOUR REQUIREMENTS TO PLAY IN YOUR TOURNAMENT. 8 OF THE VALLEY 3RD GRADE TEAM ARE 9 YEARS OLD AND #20 WONT BE 9 UNTIL AUG AND HE WAS BETTER THAN ANY PLAYER FROM ALL YOUR TEAMS. DONT COMPLAIN WHEN YOU LOOSE. MAYBE YOU SHOULD HAVE YOUR PLAYERS PRACTICE MORE. PLUS IT LOOKS BAD THAT YOU WERE THE HOST SITE AND ARE COMPLAINING ABOUT A TEAM THAT CAME TO PLAY WHICH BENEFITS YOUR TOWN AND LEAGUE. I HAVE NOTHING BUT GOOD THINGS TO SAY ABOUT THE TOURNAMENT ITSELF. IT WAS RUN VERY WELL AND THE REFS WERE EXCELLENT. I JUST WISH SOME OF THE PARENTS WOULD GET A GRIP IF THEIR CHILDREN LOOSE. FYI ALOT OF SCHOOLS HAVE PRE-KINDERGARTEN PROGRAMS WHICH BETTER PREPARES STUDENTS FOR ELEMENTARY SCHOOL THEREFORE THESE BOYS WERE NOT HELD BACK FOR SPORTS.
