Lady Vikings Jr High Girls' Basketball Tourney-1 spot open

The Vinton County Lady Vikings are hosting a Jr High tournament and are looking for one more 8th grade team and two more 7th grade teams. The tournament is scheduled to begin Saturday, February 13th. The 7th grade bracket will be held at VC Middle School and the 8th grade bracket will be held at VCHS. The 7th grade field includes the following: Jackson, Logan, Ironton, Portsmouth, Eastern Meigs and VC. The 8th grade bracket includes the following: Jackson, Logan, Ironton, Portsmouth, Eastern Meigs, Huntington St Joe, and VC. We had to make some scheduling adjustments due to last weekend's storm (home varsity boys' game was rescheduled for 2/16-night of Jr High semi-finals). I wanted to distribute brackets to all ADs today before posting on a public forum.

In the 7th grade bracket, Logan is the #1 and Portsmouth the #2 seed, with each receiving a bye the first round. Saturday, February 13th, will begin at 10:00am with #3 Eastern Meigs vs. #6 Jackson. The 11:30am game will feature #4 Vinton County vs. #5 Ironton. Tuesday, the 16th, will begin with #1 Logan vs. VC/Ironton winner at 5:15pm. #2 Portsmouth will play Eastern/Jackson winner at 6:45. The consolation game will be played at 6:00pm Thursday, February 18th, with the championship game to follow at 7:30pm. All 7th grade games will be played at Vinton County Middle School.

In the 8th grade bracket, Huntington St. Joe received the #1 seed and the first round bye. Saturday, the 13th, will begin with #4 Logan vs. #5 Vinton County at 10:00am. Next, #3 Jackson takes on #6 Portsmouth at 11:30am. Finally, #2 Eastern Meigs plays #7 Ironton at 1:00pm. Due to scheduling changes, the #1 Huntington St Joe vs Logan/VC winner will take place on Sunday, February 14th at 2:30pm. The other semi-final game will take place Tuesday, the 16th, with Jackson/Portsmouth winner vs. Eastern/Ironton winner at 8:00pm at Vinton County Middle School. The consolation game will be played at 6:00pm Thursday, February 18th, with the championship game to follow at 7:30pm. With the exception of the 8:00pm Tuesday night game, all 8th grade games will be played at Vinton County High School.

We are looking forward to a great tournament with some competitive games! We are pleased to offer a 3-point shooting contest between games on Thursday evening. We are also excited to present All Tournament Team selections in each bracket.
