Re: Girl Bball Players
Problem you will have is that if they are good already, then they have been picked up by an AAU organization already. In Southern Ohio area there arent any girls that I hear of that are not already spoken for, or being recruited..Logan has one that has not committed, 4th grade, also softball hurts it when they try to do both..

Watch for 5th graders Jessie Addis and Madison Williams. Two excellent ball players who are on the same team and know what they other one is going to do before she does it.
Also the NY sixth grade girls team has a lot of talent.

Daniels from Minford, 5th grade, has played on two teams that have done tremendously well at Nationals, the Starling girl from Logan 4th grade..
Re: Girl Bball Players
there is a girl from coal grove either 5th or 6th grade who is probably the best around seo. she plays hard and can score at will. not sure were they are playing but she is 1 that you need to watch for..........

Re: Girl Bball Players
Ive seen the NY girls play b4.......totaly agree!!! I was told about a post player from Southern thats supposely dominates the paint, dont hav a name though? Definitly want 2 watch the coal grove girl play, hav heard alot of people talkn about her
Re: Girl Bball Players
You guys might as well give up on the girl from Logan. Her biddy ball coach has her parents brainwashed that AAU will not be good for her. so good luck.
Re: Girl Bball Players
If those girls from Nelsonville were in the boys tournament I saw in Wellston all I can say is WOW!!!! I had heard about them but hadn't seen them play. The intensity they bring to the court (aside from talent) was amazing. I was stressed for the kids they were guarding. Fun to watch and it is obvious that someone has taught these girls fundamentals. I would love to see these two girls and the Daniels girl from Minford all play together. That would be an unbeatable trio.
In regards to AAU, Thunder is a great program, Team Ohio has some good teams. I am assuming the 2 Nelsonville girls play for Team Ohio. Other than that I don't think there are any quality programs in the area that I am familiar with. You have to travel north to find any other decent programs.

Dont understand that coaches theory, how could it not b good for her? What playing a extra 40 or more games wouldnt benefit her? i guess just play in your little biddy league 8-10 game schedule and cross your fingers & hope when next season comes her teammates havnt passed her by.
Btw, i would like to know what organization this so-called coach is affiliated with so i prepare myself!!!!!

Re: Girl Bball Players
I think it is because he is afraid once one of his kids get some real coaching and some real competition he is afraid they won't come back to him. There are two organizations in Logan. The LYBA and the bobcats. The Lyba has teams playing in the COBA league in c-bus and encourages AAU. The other one does not.

Lucasville Valley has some good players in the 3/4 grades. The valley team beat the Logan team with the starling girl last year as 3rd graders. Conley, Hettinger, Howard are good players for the valley team they are 4th graders. Some talent in the 3rd grade but don't know the kids names.

Re: Girl Bball Players
Logan is trying to do the right thing for Logan Basketball, continuity with the kids through the grades. The Starling girl is interested in playing AAU, her older sister did from what I understand. She also like VBall, also there was another kid interested in playing AAU, and when I talked with the parents they were interested and got no bad feelings from their coach. So who knows this year. Valley's team, I don't know havent seen them play, last year as third graders there was one tall guard, but the thing is once you step into GBA/AAU courts, alot of these kids struggle thier first year cause of the physicalness and speed, also everyone is pretty decent ball players, you are made to pay for bad habits and mistakes. So what I look for is how fundamentally sound the kid is and do the move the ball or just try dominate it. At the AAU level it is very difficult to have a one man show..who knows, some kids look good in Pee Wee and when we see them in AAU they struggle where others to adjust well and excel. Good Luck 6th Man, lol. I also believe that the Thunder and Team Ohio teams combined a couple of years ago to come in 5th in Nation as 3rd graders, dont remember about last year.
Re: Girl Bball Players
They combined and were 2nd at nationals losing to the Atlanta cagers I believe. They looked great that year. I'd forgotten about that. Duh.
I couldn't agree with you more about fundamentals. A child may look great in league play but like you say aau/gba is another beast.
Can someone confirm this? Did team Ohio win gba nationals last year beating a team from Cincinnati? The same team that finished second in the nation to the same Atlanta team?

Re: Girl Bball Players
team ohio did beat cinncinnati in the 9u gba nationals and i believe the thunder 9u team played up in the 10u division, could of been some good match-ups
Re: Girl Bball Players
Thunder was a handful for anyone last year. I remember watching them and overhearing the parents of a 10u team say. "eh, they're only 9 year olds." I chuckled.

Tall One-I believe your comment on the two logan coaches borders on slander.I will let Dan and Mike know.Dan was very interested in your comments since he is an attorney. They probably don't want their girls playing because they might wind up with a coach {let's just say for instance}YOU
