When is the school board going to realize that you can't just hire in house cause the coach they have knows nothing. This team has beat every team they have played this year in grade school tournys and lost all bit 1 this year . These boys deserve better and cg sports will be ruined .

Did they have a different coach?
Are they playing against the same teams?

They played a lot more competitive than they are now.....
Yes they had different coach....this years coach has never coached basketball before and has no control over this team.......
And the majority of the teams are teams they have played in tournys during there grade school years as all-stars.

If I remember correctly Irontons 5th grade group beat them last yr when they were 6th graders But this is most schools policy. And who could you get for a 7th grade coach that's any good anyway ??? That's not a school employee. It's not a very popular position ! And how do you know if there were outsiders that applied? Maybe he was the only one that applied At least he's putting in the time Besides CG is football not basketball. They won't compete for anything in basketball anytime soon.converterfan wrote:When is the school board going to realize that you can't just hire in house cause the coach they have knows nothing. Re: coal grove 7th grade basketball
There were only two 6th grade teams in Ohio that beat Irontons 5th last season out of nearly 15 played. Those were Portsmouth and Jackson and they were competitive with them. Coaches can make a difference, however, I think junior high programs should be an extension of the high school program. It is what your varsity will be seeing real soon. I think varsity coaches need to play a role in how a team is ran to some extent at that level, although I feel every group of kids have different talents. To some extent coaches can use what talent they have..however, a good coach makes the most of what they have.
