Coal Grove 7th & 8th scrimmages Barlow-Vincent (Warren Local) 7th & 8th at Warren HS 11/22. Warren Local has three separate Jr high teams, BV, Little Hocking, and Little Warren. BV 8th grade is pretty good, play really well together and usually don't beat themselves. They won the Marietta and Elite center (Parkersburg) summer leagues. BV 7th grade has some good players and size ( 6'3" post player) that are learning the system and how to play together but should be competitive.

Belhio7 you were spot on! Your team ran a very disciplined offense and dominated the boards. After the 2 first quarters we had you guys 25-7 rebounding advantage. 35 was a very nice player along with 44 . All the players played their role well. Defensively the boys have been taught proper man to man and the coach has done a very nice job with these young men normally do not see this at a high school level let alone a jr high level.

32hornets, I thought that was a very good scrimmage for both teams. Very competitive and both teams played hard. I was impressed with the overall play by both teams. A lot to be excited about and definitely plenty to work on. I think their respective coaches are doing a great job getting them ready for the season. You guys had some very nice players also, especially the young man that was on the 8th grade with no number I believe. Love to watch a kid with a high motor be aggressive and attack like that. There were a couple other players I thought did really good but can't remember their numbers. That little guy ( no disrespect ) is a baller! Does the player that played against our 7th grade ever miss a "3"?! Hope the player that injured his knee gets well soon and it's nothing serious. Did you guys play 7th & 8th together? Good luck on your season and I hope everyone returned home safely. I'll be keeping an eye on CG! Go Blue!

We just brought our 8th grade team only. We split it 7 n 6 so our kids got a lot of time. Your 7th grade squad was nice and the big boy is a legit 6'3 or bigger and has nice skills. The lil man did play well 4 us . And the one kid was on fire lol. Think he hit 4 n a row downtown in that 1 quarter.

South Point has a really good 8th grade guard who as a seventh grader played up on the 8th grade team all year. So the 7th grade team from last year has gained a big boost. The OVC should be interesting. I would think Galia is coming in the OVC for Junior high as well and when will it start for them? SP has been playing in most boys sports for years.

Belpre 7th grade is very solid. As 6th graders went 28-5 winning the hocking valley league. League had Logan -athens-eastern-nellsonville- and many other's.
The Belpre 8th grade team will be very competitive. There success will hinge on how much coach wants to utilize the 7th. Graders. Belpre does play B.v twice

Ironton 7th played pretty even with the West 7th in the scrimmage 1st 2 quarter game. But come the 2nd 2 quarters Ironton had a sizable lead and kept it.

As far as the 8th grade was concerned, with less than two minutes into the game, Ironton had a 20-0 score and pulled three starters. They played with 2 starters in for another four minutes and then left the subs in for the rest of the 1st 2 quarters. Before that it was 24-0. Second half was nearly the same, I believe it was 25-5 when the subs were completely inserted. Ironton has a nice group of backups this year. They will be able to substitute at least 3 without much of a dropoff. Both 7th and 8th grade teams look well coached and ready.

Our boys just looked so more polished than west. Obviously their down some but I'm not sure we would've found anything much better. We are playing well and looking forward to opening night.

Appears we will have a huge advantage in size. We are as big as a lot of varsity teams. And we play well together. Will be out of town on several games but look forward to updates and the ones I can make. Going to be a great year for the Tigers high school n jr high bball.
