Will be a good group of middle schoolers, I see them winning a lot of games! Coal Grove will also be solid!

Good scrimmage from two pretty good teams, both teams will win a bunch of game in 7th and 8th both. I was impressed with Frasure thought he really stood out should be a great season.
Re: West jr high football
Coal Grove has improved from last year. We pretty much had our way with them last year up there. it was very competitive game this year with both teams looking very good at times.

I'll agree we need to work some major kinks out. But Coal Grove has improved...Mainly by 2nd year 8th graders!!!
Re: West jr high football
I was glad to see the crowd there real good real good turnout for both teams. Seen many high school players and coaches from West there supporting a very good future high school team.

Parents holding kids back for sports! I don't think it should be allowed! If these kids are as talented as their parents think why the need to hold them back? Lets start a new fad! Instead of advancing smart kids a grade and letting them take college level classes like a lot of schools do , we need to hold them back a year so they can really strut their academics! That's about how much sense holding a kid back for sports makes...No difference... I mean apparently these parents think they have all-stars in the making or they wouldn't do this.... Holding a kid back for all the wrong reasons...School is for an education not so little johnny can dominate younger kids... Great society we live in now days...Right is wrong and wrong is right on most everything....

Re: West jr high football
This is not all cut and dry. There are many issues where sports are not the only factor. My stepbrother was held back in the sixth grade because he was not very mature and the class he was in was not exactly full of good influences. He would have been 17 at graduation and probably not ready to go off to school. Now, he is one of the better students and more mature kids in his class and there is no doubt that when graduation rolls around, he will be ready to move on. I know that a lot of these situations are sports based, but I am totally in favor of making sure kids have the maturity level needed as they advance through school. Kids grow up way too fast now, so keeping them in school until they have the tools is a great thing, IMO>.oleblue52 wrote:Re: West jr high football

Agree....agree...having a kid graduate at 17 is not good for most kids. Puts them at a disadvantage on all fronts. Especially maturity. Why rush a kid through school..its the best time of their lives.
