Re: Boys Jr. High Basketball 2024-25 Season
8th grade boys semis tonight:
Burg over Minford 50-27
South Webster over West 41-26
Pretty blah tournament so far this year as no major upsets and games haven’t been overly competitive.
Championship Saturday will hopefully deliver:
7th girls: Minford v Burg
8th girls: West v SW
7th boys: Valley v Minford
8th boys: Burg v SW

Re: Boys Jr. High Basketball 2024-25 Season
Here is a recap of the South Webster vs West Jr High game.
SOUTH WEBSTER TAKES DOWN WEST TO ADVANCE TO CHAMPIONSHIP GAME!
If South Webster was looking for a good game before heading into the championship, that is exactly what they received from the Senators on Thursday night.
And, at the end of the night, thanks to the duo of Kreischer and Large, the Jeeps punched their ticket to the championship game.
West gave the Jeeps everything it wanted and then some transition points late in the game, gave the Jeeps all the momentum to finish the game on a 18-6 run.
That was enough for the Jeeps as Large and Kreischer paved the way to a well-earned
41-26 victory
"(West) is a good team," Kreischer said. "We beat them two times in the regular season,
but it's very hard to beat a team three times. We also knew they were down one of their
better players, but that didn't change our mindset going into the game. It did change our game plan a little bit on how we defended them, but really didn't change us on the offense. First quarter we didn't really play great, but then in the second quarter we really found ourselves. and I think that's when we really got us going. “
Kreischer was sensational all night long, and Large fed off of Kreischer all night. When the Jeeps looked to be in a slump, Kreischer was there to pick it back up. Large was also sensational all night, as he was the final piece of the puzzle in tonight's victory over the Senators finishing with 17 points, 8 rebounds, and 3 blocks.
"Yeah it was great to come out here, play, and see a big crowd tonight as well," Large said. "Going into the championship game, we got Wheelersburg, they beat us twice so far this year. It's gonna be a really tough game, they came out here today before our game and beat Minford by a lot, so we're gonna have to shut down their big three players, but we gotta gameplan for it, and we'll come out and be ready to play."
It was a slow start for the Jeeps, after the Senators applied the pressure, only allowing the Jeeps 5 points in the first quarter. But that didn't seem to stop the Jeeps from having a good second quarter.
After having a 5-4 lead after the first quarter, the Jeeps seemed to flush that out, and started playing their basketball in the second quarter. Forcing the Senators into some turnovers, allowed the Jeeps to get transition buckets, and got the ball moving as well as it did all night, to force the Senators into a timeout with 3:50 left in the half. Heading into the locker room, the Jeeps ended the quarter on a 16-6 run giving them a 21-10 lead going into the third quarter.
The Jeeps never trailed after that, but the Senators had some life in the second half.
The Senators came out and held the Jeeps to only 2 points in the quarter, while the Senators added 10, cutting the Jeeps lead down to 3. But Kreischer was not satisfied.
Heading into the fourth quarter, the Senators got a quick two, making it a 1 1 point game, leaving 5:46 left to play, but the Jeeps weren't done. The next possession, The Jeeps found Kreischer in the corner, and Kreischer wanted this opportunity, and he took full advantage of it by connecting with a three, giving the Jeeps a 26-22 lead with 5:12 left to play, but Kreischer still wasn't finished.
The Jeeps got the ball back, which brought Kreischer down for a Euro Step layup, giving the Jeeps a 6 point lead with 4:42 left in the game. With 3:56 left to play Kreischer found Large down low for a spin move pull-up forcing the Senators to take a timeout after the Jeeps pushed the lead to 8 points.
The Jeeps ended the game on a 18-6 run with Large and Kreischer combining for 33 of the teams 41 points
"We know that we are probably the main two scorers." Kreischer said. We also have
other guys who can hit shots, and I think Whisman did a good job early knocking a 3,
which really opened up things for me (Kreischer) and Easton (Large), but us scoring a lot, you know, we both feed off each other, when one of us scores, were excited for each other, and when he has the ball I think I open up more, and when I have the ball, I think it frees him up, so I think we just match well together.”
Kreischer finished the night with 16 points 8 assists, and 7 rebounds. Most of his 16 points came in the second half, which is when the Jeeps really needed him to step up, but you can't forget about the partner in crime, Easton Large.
When one of us is scoring, the other one is scoring," Large said. "That's why we have such high scoring nights. When I'm scoring, he is open for threes, and when he is hitting
threes, I'm open in the post, so I think it's a really good thing we have going here at
South Webster that'll be going for a while."
The Jeeps will be back in action on Saturday afternoon to take on the Pirates of
Wheelersburg for the third time this season. The Jeeps are looking for their first victory
over the Pirates this season, and it couldn t come at a better time.

Re: Boys Jr. High Basketball 2024-25 Season
Championship Saturday delivered as usual! Great games throughout the day. No upsets, but competitive games and a great atmosphere.
Didn’t see any fan ejections this year, so that’s a plus as well! Some real talent coming up next few years in the SOC III from both the boys and girls’ sides.*
