8th Grade Boys SVC Conference Tournament

Post by Jim Mora »

What does the bracket look like, and some thoughts on first round matchups.

I know Tournament play starts saturday morning in Westfall as the 1 seed Zane Trace tips off against 8 seeded Piketon at 10am.

Otherwise how does it look, my guess would be something like this.

1. Zane Trace
vs.
8. Piketon

4. Southeastern
vs.
5. Westfall

3. Adena
vs.
6. Huntington

2. Unioto
vs.
7. Paint Valley

Thoughts?

Dr. Lou i predict Adena to win the tourney . They crushed Huntington today and play Unioto Monday . this team is loaded . They are not a one man show and their coach is a defensive wizard that knows when to turn up the heat . What's up doc ? what do u think ?

I think ZT's clock is ticking. Adena or Unioto will win the tournament, I just think it is unfortunate for the 8th grade to not have prep time like the 7th grade has. I spoke with the coach at Piketon and they had 2 days to prepare for ZT and the tournament as opposed to the 7th grade who had nearly a week and a half.

Adena has a nice 7th grade team. I like those Postage kids .

No way ZT should win this tournament.. with the teams left I would favor Unioto, Adena and Southeastern.

Unioto beat Adena 40-34 last night and Zane Trace beat Southeastern, not sure on that score though.

Unioto takes on Zane Trace tomorrow night in the rubber game for the Championship.

catspaw- 3 off the top of my head that could see varsity minutes next year are Johnathon Thomas(Adena), Erique Hosley(Unioto), and Pierce Mowery(ZT). There are some other very good players in the 8th grade class, but I think these 3 stand out above the rest.

ZT beat Unioto by about 10 pts, Mowery had 28 for ZT

Piketon has a good 7th grade team. Future baller - Casey Moore. I think he may be the brother of the Craigen Moore on the High School team

adena needs to get to playing their athletes instead of basketball specialists. i see this at all levels of the program. as for their 8th grade defense... left much to be desired all season! keyword there is "desired". underachieving team all season... something missing... maybe physical toughness idk
